ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a passionate software leader who is excited about driving and growing an amazing team of software professionals to deliver excellent cannabis experiences. This individual will be a key leader at PAX charged with developing and delivering software experiences across mobile, web, and back-end for both our consumers and B2B customers.

PAX is seeking a VP, Software that will own all aspects of software engineering including Apps, Server, QAm, DevOps, and Data reporting. They will deliver the core user experience that ensures users can easily purchase PAX products that exceed their expectations. This role is key to building PAX's flywheel - excellent connected experiences on top of industry leading hardware, backed by data science that informs future development and UX.

  • Building out a backend framework that ingests millions of data points from devices and delivers unique insights to support PAX consumers, content partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Hire and retain talented software engineers and a data team, coaching and mentoring to build satisfying careers
  • Ship high quality software releases at a regular cadence, including testing across multiple hardware and software platforms
  • Balance resources to support new product launches while ensuring quality on existing products
  • Ensure the software team works proactively with stakeholders across the organization and is not siloed

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years in software engineering, inclusive of direct software development experience
  • 10+ years management experience in a 25+ person organization
  • Experience building and delivering consumer-facing software products that have scaled robustly
  • Clear track record of building highly nimble, productive teams that take risks, deliver to deadlines for the organization
  • Strong alignment with PAX values of creating diverse teams and fostering a driven and supportive working environment
  • Consumer electronic experience a plus

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field, Masters preferred

If you are interested in building global challenger brands, scaling a business, and working in a values-driven environment, we want to hear from you!</p><p><b>The Opportunity</b></p><p>This position will be responsible for Canopy’s Global IT operations.The candidate will be the primary focal point for all the IT operational needs covering service desk, office and site operations and asset/configuration management.The Director, Global IT Operations will grow and lead a dispersed team of IT professionals throughout the Canada, USA and Europe, ensuring all global IT processes, SLAs and commitments are managed and met.</p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><p>• Lead Service Desk and Operations support functions across all Global operations</p><p>• Liaises with Cloud Infrastructure Team for server or Cloud support activities</p><p>• Responsible for new build construction or site upgrades in accordance with Canopy Growth practices and specs</p><p>• Provide management liaison for projects in regions (management support for in region business analysts and escalations)</p><p>• Responsible for all network and system assets, including asset and lifecycle management for all systems (laptops, handhelds, switches, firewalls, servers, etc.)</p><p>• Proactive monitoring of CGCsites’ network and system resources and provides KPI reporting on system status</p><p>• Establishes documented processes for all patch testing, deployment and compliance across all North American sites.</p><p>• Handles all system and network incidents on 24/7 basis coordinating and leading Tier 1, 2 and 3 teams to resolution</p><p>• Manages vendor relationships for ongoing system and network support activities (cabling, IT closets and racks, WAN connectivity, backup systems)</p><p>• Maintain configuration management documentation for all system and networking assets and coordinates process around changes to any devices</p><p>• Manages Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes and execution in the event of an incident, including system backups and regular restore testing</p><p>• Supervises, mentors and trains Tier 1 and 2 support personnel</p><p>• Other duties as assigned</p><p><b>Experience</b></p><p>• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related areas</p><p>• 10+ years in IT Operations Management</p><p>• Experience in hiring for and managing multi-site locations and teams in production environments</p><p>• Experience in managing new builds, retrofits and M&amp;A integrations of IT systems</p><p>• Strong knowledge of and experience with system and network architectures</p><p>• Experience in developing and deploying multi-site processes and IT tools</p><p>• Demonstrated experience in leading teams under a rapidly changing environment</p><p><b>Other Details</b></p><p>This is a full-time role based out of either Ottawa or Toronto, Ontario.</p><p>We appreciate the interest from all candidates, and promise to review all applications, but we will only be contacting those who best fit the requirements.
