The Role

The purpose of this position is to ensure the successful quality and compliance management operations at our Danville, PA cultivation facility.

This position will play a key role in developing, implementing, and upgrading quality assurance policies and standard operating procedures, as well as compliance, development, and implementation of HACCP programs, product quality tracking systems, FDA standards, ingredient management programs, allergen and sanitization management programs, product safety practices, internal and external audits, etc.

This position will also ensure compliance with all GTI corporate operating procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, county, and municipal laws, regulations, ordinances, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Quality Department and ensure all employees understand and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Define, implement, and improve the Quality Management System including development of process and product testing to ensure quality standards are met and oversee determination of finished product disposition

• Partner with management to lead quality initiatives that develop and maintain a high performing, scalable, and compliant quality system

• Implement, maintain, and audit sanitation and quality control practices that ensure the safety and quality of cannabis including purity and consistency

• Implement HACCP, allergen, and sanitization management programs

• Review and approve decisions about whether to investigate a cannabis product complaint and review and approve the findings and follow-up action of any investigation performed

• Perform or oversee routine audits of compliance processes to assure accuracy and thoroughness of completion

• Participate in State regulatory compliance inspections, investigate and resolve compliance concerns, issues, or violations

• Analyze facility trends to assess potential areas of continued non-compliance

• Publish monthly metrics focused on facility current QA/QC progress

• Routinely reviews monthly corporate QA/QC documentation and assures that all areas of concern are addressed appropriately according to corporate policy and regulatory standards

• Write Quality SOPs or other standards as necessary

• Manage, train, and develop QA/QC employees to perform in a proficient manner, providing motivation through personal example and interpersonal skills to create a cohesive unit

• Promote awareness and responsibility through training and regular communication throughout the facility

• Establish staff goals, monitor employee performance, and provide regular 1:1 performance feedback to help employees succeed

• Fosters a high-performance culture through active leadership and create a strong sense of accountability within the Quality Department

• Perform assigned Quality Inspections

• Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect product safety, product quality or personnel safety

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management

• May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the Quality & Compliance Manager in their absence

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field required, Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred

• 3+ years of regulatory compliance management including interfacing with regulators and inspectors

• 5+ years work experience with a proven track record of building and developing QA/QC processes and systems

• Must have the knowledge and skills required to work in a fast paced and challenging environment

• Must be able to work variable day shifts dependent on business need

• Knowledge of the GMP, HACCP and Environmental sanitation programs

• Experience with SQF, ISO, GMP, ASQ, HACCP, PCQI or similar certification experience preferred

• QMS auditor or similar certification preferred

• Possess a strong knowledge of sanitary design, specification, and implementation of food\pharmaceutical processing systems

• Ability to deliver specific organizational goals and effectively develop, grow, and manage a diverse multisite team to achieve objectives

• Track record of engaging teams and creating a collaborative culture

• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

• Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft® Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word)

• Strong detail-oriented and resourceful mindset

• Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry

Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to management. Performs welding fabrication (both stick and gas) in various locations and positions including pipe and structural on various metals for new and existing equipment. Performs machine shop work operating various machines such as drill presses, grinders, MIG/TIG/stick welders, plasma torches, cutting equipment (i.e. chop saw), pneumatic tools, and electric/manual hand tools. Analyzes test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems. Observes and tests the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices. Inspects, repairs, and assures adherence to installation, safety, and operational standards. Performs routine operational checks, maintenance, and servicing of all machinery and equipment related to extraction operations, where applicable. Troubleshoots equipment using electrical test equipment, circuit diagrams, schematics, and blueprints. Adjusts or replaces seals and other mechanical parts as needed. Regularly services motors, bearings, sensors, and other key machine parts. Performs maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC systems, air compressors, powered industrial vehicles, etc. Performs carpentry/construction tasks - e.g., installing locking systems on sheds or gates Fixes minor plumbing leaks. Handles rudimentary electrical maintenance - e.g. replacing outlet receptacles. Performs routine checks on breaker boxes, addresses outages as applicable. Records repairs and machine maintenance performed. Handles inventory and requisition of machine parts, equipment, materials, and other supplies to maintain stock. Ensures that all work performed meets required codes (OSHA, local, state, and federal) and is in accordance with plant policies and procedures. Implements and follows SOPs around machine set-up, cleaning, monitoring, and calibration; helps develop and flush out current SOPs for specific machines. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and aprons. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area. Becomes familiar with and adheres to manufacturers' documentation for equipment that requires electrical and hydraulic circuitry and machinery. Reads and understands the specifications or blueprints for the work to be done and plans the steps to be taken to complete the project. Remains up-to-date on information about new technology in materials, methods, and equipment. Ensures strong organization and inventory control of the tool and parts inventory for all manufacturing equipment. Works closely with the Operations Manager to re-order essential parts and components so that machines never go down for extended periods of time. Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, organizational directives, and standard operating procedures. Provides action plans and status reports as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Maintenance/Industrial Maintenance preferred. Experience with PLCs. Welding experience. 5+ years of maintenance experience with automation equipment, PLC, mechanical maintenance, and basic facility electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Preferred knowledge of proximity sensors, electric motors, pressure switches, bearings, gearing, PLC programs, servo motors, etc. Strong communication skills and ability to work with supervisors and leads across many departments. Forward Greens has an immediate opening for a full-time Grower Technician<b>. </b> The Grower Tech will perform a wide of duties of around the farm and its food processing area. The role is “split shift”, meaning that the hourly schedule will straddle the second half of the day shift, and the first half of the night shift (approximately 1:00pm-9:00 with details to be decided based on a candidates circumstances. Responsibilities generally fall into 4 categories:</p><p>1. Daily maintenance tickets on the mechanical growing systems of the farm. You need to be handy with a wrench and very mechanical.</p><p>2. Supporting growing operations after the day shift has completed its work.</p><p>3. Maintaining the plant workshop and tools in an organized fashion.</p><p>4. Providing quick-response maintenance support for any issues with the farm building and facility.</p><p>Work in this role will be a mix of routine and ticket driven projects, meaning that each day will present new and interesting challenges to solve. For more info, please visit our website: www.forwardgreens.com</p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><p>· Organize and handle daily maintenance tickets, following up with all parties to indicate status, steps taken, and any outstanding items.</p><p>· Executing daily/ weekly/ monthly responsibilities for various aspects of farm operation and documented and explained in your training.</p><p>· Being on-time for all assigned shifts, showing good time management, and staying on task.</p><p>· Learning &amp; adhering to workplace safety and food safety requirements.</p><p>· Tool and shop organization, maintenance &amp; regular cleaning.</p><p>· Daily documentation &amp; record keeping of all work performed.</p><p>· Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and facilities</p><p>· Performing various grower tasks including moving and managing germinated plants, fully grown plants, and assisting in harvest.</p><p><b>Requirements: </b></p><p>· Bachelors degree or post-secondary training in engineering or mechanical systems.</p><p>· Must be certified on forklift, order picker and scissor lift.</p><p>· 3-5 years of work experience doing operations and maintenance in an agriculture or food processing environment.</p><p>· A demonstrated working understanding of plumbing, electrical, and control systems.
