Urbn Leaf, the new standard in cannabis dispensaries, is looking for a Shift Lead to join our team at our existing location in La Mesa, CA. If you're friendly, love to lead and develop teams, and are knowledgeable about all things cannabis - we are looking for you!
Job Title: Dispensary Shift Lead
Reports to: General Manager and Assistant Managers
Position Summary:
Our Shift Leads are responsible for the day to day operations and performance of the retail staff. Most time will be spent on maintaining the presentation of the store and team, and ensuring guests receive high quality service while upholding the Urbn Leaf brand standards and expectations. Shift Leads help to run the store during hours of operation under the direction of the Assistant Manager and General Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee dispensary team including but not limited to: reception, budtenders, budbacks, security, etc.
  • Ensure time is effectively spent overseeing team and guest experience.
  • Ensure all technology platforms are updated with our most current information (specials, events, marketing materials)
  • Ensure all staff is on time, well-groomed and in clean uniforms
  • Handle all returns, exchanges and employee purchases
  • Ensure that Inventory Controller is notified of all returns so this may be communicated to the vendor and product replaced or credit given
  • Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed and the venue is completely secured before departing at night or opening in the morning
  • Meet with management team to ensure proper follow-up on all action items and address any personnel issues
  • Report all relevant operational information to General Manager
  • Handle customer issues and concerns in a professional and effective manner
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure the venue is compliant with all pertinent employee rules and regulations
  • Execute marketing efforts as directed by the Marketing team
  • Ensure proper ambiance and cleanliness within venue at all times
  • Ensure that the Urbn Leaf brand is always properly represented
  • Train and develop employees from within
  • Work with management team to create and implement staff incentive programs to increase level of service, promote upselling, and enhance staff morale
  • Read industry publications to keep up-to-date on trends
  • Assist in creating and implementing policies and procedures that will enhance customer service
  • Enforce all policies and procedures of venue and the company
  • Manage floor to ensure staff is on task at all times
  • Perform any other duties and projects assigned by Senior Management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of dispensary or retail management experience
  • Must be able to input and access information in the POS system, delivery systems, marketing outlets, computers, etc.
  • Must be comfortable learning new skills
  • Must have a hands-on, proactive management style

Skills and Attitudes:
Must be motivated, hard-working, and passionate. This position requires someone who is a strong leader with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained, care of perishable product is properly executed, FIFO process is being upheld, finished goods are received/stored properly, processed and made ready for sale in a timely manner. Ensures all cannabis products meet or exceed state and local compliance standards. Any items that do not meet or exceed compliance standards are to be rejected, logged for vendor credit and moved to Green Waste, or destroyed immediately.</p><p><b>Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p><p><b>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</b></p><p>• Oversee, schedule, train, and assign tasks to inventory team members (Budbacks).</p><p>• Ensure proper care and First In, First Out (FIFO) rotation of all inventory for retail and delivery outlet.</p><p>• Ensure all products are kept in their ideal state to preserve freshness and quality.</p><p>• Ensure all technology platforms - inventory, ERP, METRC, POS - are updated with the most accurate product descriptions and on-hand inventory amounts.</p><p>• Coordinate with procurement team and management team to ensure proper turnover of inventory to expedite the sale of expiring products.</p><p>• Conduct monthly inventory audits and report any loss runs to General Manager and Headquarters.</p><p>• Handle all receiving of items, returns, and exchanges with procurement and shipping teams.</p><p>• Advise on upcoming \"best by\" dates for incoming inventory so items can be put on sale or exchanged with vendors prior to expiration.</p><p>• Coordinate with managers for the destruction of expiring products as well as notify the procurement team.</p><p>• Ensure all invoices, payables, and returns are properly coded and communicated to the Finance department, ensuring clear communication within the accounting ecosystem.</p><p>• Account for all discrepancies within manifests and delivery, and report them to our executive teams and the BCC.</p><p>• Responsible for receiving all products, checking in products (ERP and METRC), scanning manifests and COA's; scanning invoices as needed.</p><p>• Work closely with Compliance Director and team to ensure regulations are followed and address issues within 24 hours of occurrence.</p><p>• Work with other company locations to troubleshoot issues with inventory audits and receiving as needed.</p><p>• Ensure new products are ready for sale within 48 hours of receiving.</p><p>• Meet with management team regularly to ensure proper follow-up on all action items.</p><p>• Accountable for proper disposal of cannabis waste, both physically and systemically.</p><p>• Manage and track all levels of inventory of the outlet(s) including cannabis, merchandise, shop supplies, promotional materials, and all other non-cannabis items.</p><p>• Always ensure proper ambiance and cleanliness of inventory and secure storage areas.</p><p>• Ensure the Urbn Leaf brand is always being properly represented.</p><p>• Participate in the quarterly venue cleanings.</p><p>• Abide by all policies and procedures of the company.</p><p>• Walk the venue on a regular basis to ensure the facility is properly maintained and address and report any issues promptly to the facilities team.</p><p>• Intimately understand state and local cannabis regulations to maintain compliance of the venue.</p><p>• Inform employees of new products, and assist in the making of the displays for new products.</p><p>• Account for all non-cannabis items.</p><p>• Create/update logs for efficient systems within inventory.</p><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><p>• At least three years of inventory management experience in a high-volume environment, with knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products; or one year of inventory management in a high-volume cannabis retailer.</p><p>• ERP system experience required.
