As the Senior Tax Analyst you will work closely with finance leaders to support the diverse tax compliance and planning needs of Cronos Group. The ideal candidate is motivated, collaborative and forward- thinking.

This role will report to the Tax Manager and is based out of Toronto, ON (Remote).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing the Canadian GST-HST sales tax returns and the Canadian excise duty tax returns of the Company and its subsidiaries
  • Preparing the Corporate T2 tax returns of the Company and its subsidiaries
  • Preparing foreign reporting forms T106 and T1134 returns of the Company and its subsidiaries
  • Assisting in managing all government sales and corporate tax audits, preparation of responses to queries and review of assessments
  • Support the Tax Manager based in the US in preparing the monthly Sales & Use Tax returns (SUT) and willingness to take ownership of the SUT process
  • Analyzing all tax related account balances and preparing journal entries
  • Providing technical support to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, local and applicable domestic tax laws and regulations
  • Ensuring compliance with internal control policies
  • Collaborating with other departments on special project work and participating in departmental projects as required
  • Provide support to other members of the Tax team in preparing the quarterly and annual consolidated tax provision working papers
  • Other ad hoc duties and tax projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • CA, CPA, or CGA designation preferred
  • 3+ years tax experience, public accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in preparing T2 Corporate tax returns
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian sales tax and Canadian corporate tax legislation
  • Knowledge in US GAAP and Federal and State income tax concepts preferred
  • Knowledge of the Canadian excise duty framework preferred
  • Adept proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Taxprep software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound analytical skills with attention to detail/accuracy
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented individual capable of managing multiple deadlines with a focused attention to detail
  • A problem-solving mindset, proactive in identifying and resolving issues
  • Demonstrated passion for establishing process and implementing best practices
