Position Summary

The Heritage IT technical support person will monitor and maintain all Heritage computer systems, networks and IT support. This position will be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems, either over the phone, virtual or in person.

In the role as technical support you will cover one or more areas of expertise, depending on the location.

Job Duties

You'll be responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring that users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary depending on the size and structure of the organization, but you'll need to:

  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
  • Talk staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Replace parts as required
  • Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
  • Support the roll-out of new applications
  • Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
  • Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs
  • Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
  • Prioritize and manage many open cases at one time
  • Rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers
  • Test and evaluate new technology
  • Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Oversee and maintain server units at various facilities.
  • Continually updating your knowledge in the technical industry to keep up with technical change and challenges.

Qualifications

  • Business information technology – degree or related education and/or experience
  • Business systems engineering – an asset
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Computer networking and hardware- 2 years experience minimum.
  • Computer software development, an asset.
  • Information technology knowledge – 2 years experience minimum.
  • Internet engineering – 3 years experience minimum.
  • Software engineering – an asset

Working Conditions

· Due to the nature of the work, you may be expected to work shifts or be on call and it may be necessary to work extra hours to finish a job.

· Career breaks are rare because of the need to keep up to date with ever-changing software and operating systems.

· Travel is required – facilities in Falkland, Ft. Erie and Kelowna

Physical Requirements
Standing, sitting, may have to attend to outdoor elements, ladders, safety oriented.
