The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, HRIS, the HCM Solution Manager will drive the implementation and ongoing optimization of our HR and Payroll systems, applications, and processes. This individual will function as a key liaison between HR, Payroll, IT and external software vendors and will have a deep technical understanding of each Workday module and their interconnections.

The HCM Solution Manager will lead the review, analyze, and evaluate HR and Payroll business processes, existing systems, user needs and technology opportunities to develop detailed requirement documents to support the review and analysis of recommendations. During implementation/upgrades/enhancements, they will lead requirement gathering and analysis, execute testing plans, create system documentation, training materials and communications to ensure that business requirements are met.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a deep understanding of each functional and technical area of the solution architecture of Workday
    • Understand the processes, approvals and requirements for each functional workstream
    • Understand each technical integration and overall enterprise architecture of how Workday fits within Canopy’s IT ecosystem
  • Support the enterprise-wide HR Technology Roadmap and ongoing optimization of our HR systems
  • Lead the implementation of new modules and integration of new groups into Canopy HR systems
  • Support the overall program management of Canopy’s Workday implementation
  • Execute all complex configuration request
  • Oversee the design and implementation of system integrations and understand the overall IT architecture at Canopy Growth
  • Lead the Workday system administration, business process configuration, implementation and testing of the HR systems; consisting of the following modules: Core HCM, Payroll, Time & Absence, Benefits Recruitment, Learning as well as any additional modules as required
  • Conduct system audits to identify process and data issues
  • Proactively investigate upcoming vendor system enhancements
  • Recommend and implement processes on reporting standards and offer technical solutions to gain process efficiency and improve data integrity
  • Develop customized reports and dashboards, including preparing data for analyses for use in planning and present data in an effective and compelling way
  • Collaborate with functional and technical system stakeholders to streamline and enhance reporting processes and promote user adoption
  • Process mapping of HR and Payroll functions into the HR systems to ensure efficiencies, accurate reporting, and compliance. Develop standard operating procedures for critical HR processes
  • Develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Provide client training as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in HR and/or IT discipline
  • 5-7 years specializing in HCM systems experience, configuring and supporting HR and Payroll technology systems, including end-to-end implementation, troubleshooting, debugging, testing and ongoing optimization
    • Experience with Workday is required
    • Workday Certification (Consultant or PRO) are considered a strong asset
  • 2 to 4 years of Workday project implementation experience
  • 1 to 2 years of process mapping experience
  • Experience with Workday reporting
  • Working knowledge of Workday integration tools and experience partnering with integration developers to execute integration design, development and testing
  • Deep functional understanding of core HR and Payroll business terminology, processes, and practices
  • Professionalism and excellent consultative approach in working directly with internal clients, delivering excellent customer service
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros and complex formulas), and other MS applications (Visio, PowerPoint, Access and Word)
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with a high attention to detail; demonstrated strength in problem-solving and multi-tasking
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, to build strong partnerships with key internal organizations and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and organized with a well-developed sense of time, projects, and priority management
  • Strong customer service focus with demonstrated skills in supporting users to assist in addressing issues and concerns
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team and work effectively with a geographically dispersed group
