About the Role

We are looking for a Communications Advisor to join our team! Under the leadership of the Manager, Strategic Communications, you will help to advise on and evaluate communication needs for OCS team and develop initiatives that are purposeful and align with OCS identity. You will guide the development of content for internal and external audiences and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.

This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your solid understanding of the Canadian media landscape, passion for social media, and your excellent verbal and written communication skills in a new and evolving market.

About Your Day

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies and ensure communications content aligns with OCS identity and narrative
  • Review media inquiries and work with the Manager, Strategic Communications to advise on messaging and ensure that responses are delivered within established timelines
  • Monitor social media accounts to identify issues, risks, and engagement opportunities; track and analyze social media metrics
  • Support the development of key messages on a variety of issues and ensure consistent messaging across all channels
  • Write and edit a variety of internal and external communication products, including (but not limited to) news releases, email communications, social media content, customer communications, blog posts and memos
  • Perform traditional and social media monitoring and alert relevant stakeholders of potential issues or risks
  • Coordinate multiple projects to ensure content is publication-ready under tight deadlines
About You

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education in a related area of study OR equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education
  • 2-3 years of experience working in communications or related field
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and strong organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian media landscape and a passion for social media, online trends and the latest tools/communication platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain positive working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Experience within the public sector is an asset
  • Fluency in the French language is an asset

Safely Opening Schools (SOS) Project (www.safelyopeningschools.org) supports high-needs CA schools' safer reopening by scaling up school-based COVID-19 testing to support safer school reopening.
