Senior Accounting Manager

We are currently hiring a seasoned & experienced Senior Accounting Manager to manage the key functions of the Accounting Department in Desert Hot Springs, CA. The Senior Accounting Manager will focus on managing company audits, reporting, and oversight and management of a broad range of department operating tasks, with a key focus on producing results. This is an important key position for the Desert Hot Springs location.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • The ability to manage various company audits including California State Sales Tax, Workers Compensation, Voluntary, Public Audits, etc.
  • Analyze budgets versus actuals and identify variances & cost implications
  • Produce costing models and reports to support decision making
  • Maintain an active cashflow forecasting model for the company
  • Management of the accounting team and respective accounting functions
  • Complete account reconciliations
  • Enforce and assist in the design of accounting and operational controls and policies.
  • Oversee the accuracy of relevant HR functions including payroll processing, commission reports, job postings, recruitment, etc.
  • Oversee Account Receivables and Accounts Payable ensuring the accounting team is timely and accurately executing these key functions.
  • Inventory reconciliation into company balance sheet including purchasing, receiving, exchanges, disputes, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely filing of Sales tax, Excise Tax, Cultivation Tax, Payroll, et al reports for various authorities
  • General Ledger entries, reconciliations of accounts, preparing financial statements
  • Analyze financials and make recommendations to management when appropriate.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly and year-end reports including cashflow, operational performance, and financial reporting to the corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Required Skills & Traits:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA license.
  • 7 or more years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Management or leadership experience in an organization with 500 or more employees.
  • Self-starter, with strong organizational abilities, including ability to engage in the direct performance and oversight of a broad range of department operating tasks.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and ability to apply accounting knowledge to a range of technical accounting issues.
  • Able to apply organizational skills and strong attention to detail to the preparation, review, and maintenance of all accounts within the division at high transaction volumes.
  • Extremely strong skills in the use Excel and Google Sheets, including the design of complex formulas, use of pivot tables, and strong data and visual analytics.
  • Familiarity with Fishbowl as an Inventory Costing System and understanding of cost accounting.
  • Very strong understanding of QuickBooks is a MUST!
  • Experience with full ERP systems and system conversions an asset, particularly in relation to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other Microsoft ERP products.
  • Must be willing to roll up your sleeves and dig into the details!
  • Public company Accounting Experience is a big plus!
  • Must have strong collaborative abilities, both within the accounting department and alongside a range of departments within the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor, team oriented, great organizational skills and a go getter with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates a desire to learn and assume responsibility.
  • Strong commitment to the job and the organization. Flexibility to work extra hours when needed. Punctual and dependable.
  • All other accounting functions as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $100,000.00 to $110,000.00; subject to proven skill set and experience level.

You will work collaboratively with our Planners, Regional Directors, Retail Managers, and the cannabis industry's best companies and have access to leading-edge Business Intelligence tools which inform your data-driven decision making on the best products for Sunnyside.</p><p><b>CORE JOB DUTIES</b></p><p>• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities by monitoring levels of product and proactively purchasing to ensure dispensaries are adequately stocked with the number of appropriate and applicable SKUs</p><p>• Develops &amp; maintains strong working relationships with 3rd party cultivators and manufacturers to purchase cannabis products for our Pennsylvania dispensaries. Known for being responsive, friendly, and always seeking mutual value.</p><p>• Analyzes data from multiple sources to identify the best-selling brands and strains/flavors, informing the localized Inventory purchase plan by dispensary</p><p>• Maintains a promotional calendar, including when to run store-specific markdowns on slow-moving, over-stocked, or aged products</p><p>• Maintains a purchase and delivery schedule for both Cresco and 3rd party, ensuring our dispensaries are always stocked with appropriate days of supply.</p><p>• Work with Finance and Procurement to ensure PO's are submitted and payments are timely.</p><p>• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure Sunnyside inventory strategy is in best service of both retail and wholesale needs</p><p>• Awareness of industry trends and new manufacturers, so you're able to identify the best new products to bring into Sunnyside. Educate Retail Dispensary Managers on new products.</p><p>• Collaborates with Pricing &amp; Promotions Team to complete costing and ROI analysis to design promotions with 3rd -party vendors, enabling win-win for Cresco &amp; partner</p><p>• Works closely with Planners to ensure compliance with governing &amp; regulatory bodies, such as managing inventory allocation caps.</p><p>REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS</p><p>• 3+ years of retail buying, merchandising, planning, or related experience</p><p>• Understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory management practices</p><p>• Strong analytical skills and experience making fact-based decisions with data</p><p>• Strong data skills within Excel.
