The Product Label & Compliance Control Manager is responsible for providing hands on management of all functions associated with the operations of product label control including ordering, receiving, printing, application, quality control, optimization, and providing input into supply planning activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with CPG labels and cannabis production operations, have the ability to multitask in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision, is able to work in a fast-paced environment with the flexibility to meet changing needs and demands and work as part of a cross-functional team servicing the needs of the commercial team through various lines of business.

Responsibilities:

· Manage the day-to-day operations of product label productions including ordering, receiving, printing, application, quality control and storage.

· Responsible for all labelling across all lines including management of all printing devices and label supplies.

· Provide solutions to optimize implementation of product label operations; identify root causes when issues occur with equipment or process and develop, recommend, communicate, and implement corrective actions and lessons learned.

· Organize and clean label control area after each run to ensure accuracy of labels used.

· Safely dispose off excessive labels not needed for operations.

· Manage and track product label inventory, ensuring daily counts are accurate and recorded.

· Ensure all applicable regulatory requirements are met within the procedures and practices of the Label Control department.

· Analyzes production schedule to plan and coordinate work order flow through label department and responsible to maintain inventory of labels and printing supplies.

· Effectively plan for upcoming demands and communicate with other internal and external groups as needed.

· Track printer maintenance and performance and troubleshoot for any issues identified in the equipment.

Perform any other duties or tasks on an as-needed basis as requested by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

· 2+ years experience working in CPG environment with specific experience in label operations.

· College or University education in supply chain management or related field of study.

· Strong proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office products.

· Demonstrated effectiveness performing tasks requiring a strong attention to detail.

· Experience managing, monitoring, and maintaining Zebra thermal-transfer and direct-thermal printers such at the ZT411 and ZD421.

· Experience managing, monitoring, and maintaining Epson C6XXX series colour label printers, including managing an external unwinder/rewinder system.

· Exposure to NiceLabel Cloud label management software. Experience with NiceLabel designer also desirable.

· Experience with laser coding and direct-to-pouch TTO (Thermal Transfer Overprint) technologies is considered an asset.

· Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset.

· Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

· Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check (RPIC status not required but an asset).

For more information, please visit www.mjardin.com .Position SummaryAs the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager of MJardin Group license holder, you will be responsible for assuring the quality of cannabis before it is made available for sale, investigating complaints received about the quality of the cannabis, and taking corrective action.ResponsibilitiesEnsure the overall and ongoing compliance to the Cannabis Act and its Regulations.Responsible for the approval of all methods and procedures related to Good Production Practices (GPP), to ensure the quality of cannabis before it is made available for sale.Review and approve all Product Batch Records, before cannabis is released and made available for sale.Participate in Health Canada audits and inspections, prepare responses to observations and perform all necessary corrective actions.Write, review and maintain all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and build electronic quality forms, into a new cannabis inventory and quality management system (Elevated Signals).Ensure all processes are captured in the cannabis quality management system including, plant and inventory tracking, environmental, sanitation, equipment, supplies, testing, and all internal quality checks.Build and generate customizable quality reports and prepare monthly Health Canada CTS Canada Revenue Agency Reports.Ensure staff are trained on SOPs and GPP and coordinate ongoing training to ensure compliance or re-training where needed.Track adherence to quality SOPs, closely monitor Acceptable Quality Levels (AQLs), variances, thresholds, and trends, as alerts that require QA verification.Oversee pest control program and ensure pest control procedures are authorized under the Pest Control Products Act or the Cannabis Act.Ensure cannabis is stored and distributed under conditions that maintain its quality.Oversee the sanitation of premises and equipment cleanliness, hygienic behaviour of personnel, and maintenance.Review product quality and customer complaints and lead investigations including corrective action and preventive action.Ensure full analytical testing is conducted on each lot or batch of cannabis before it is released for sale.Ensure testing is conducted using approved validated methods, investigate deviations and out of spec results.Review Product Batch Record & Certificate of Analysis (CoA), approve product master label artwork, variable data inputs and final product labels.Ensure all aspects of final product packaging, labelling, excise stamps, master cases, pallets, CoA submission, shipping and tracking requirements for product distribution is accurate and verified by QA.Perform internal audits and vendor qualification audits on a regular basis to determine quality qualifications. Actively participate in external audits such as regulatory inspections.Perform analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary.Complete a yearly recall simulation, and product quality review.QualificationsFormal Education or Equivalent:Science degree or equivalentQuality Assurance Certificate an assetYears of Experience:3-5 years in a QAP roleCompetencies, Specialized Skills / Knowledge unique to this role:Previous quality assurance experience in cannabis, pharmaceuticals, medical or food production requiredMust have a Health Canada Security ClearanceMust be a quality assurance person approved by Health Canada or meet the requirements to become a QAP under Health CanadaStrong knowledge of the Cannabis Act and its Regulations is an assetHours of WorkThis is a full-time position that requires but is not limited to, 40 hours per week. Operational hours are dependent on the client and facility operations.
