The Regional Franchise Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities, openings and relationships with the franchise partners and franchise stores located within their specific region. They are responsible for the holistic performance of the franchise partner’s business and operated stores within their region, including franchise partner profitability, sales growth via marketing and communication strategy, store operations, assortment and merchandising strategies, new store development and customer experience. The Regional Franchise Manager reports directly to the VP of Retail Operations. Being cross-functional in nature, the Regional Franchise Manager works closely with other functions within the organization including Purchasing, Support Services, Construction, Marketing, Finance and IT.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage Franchise Relationships

  • Liaise between corporate and franchise partners.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for brand initiatives that affect franchise partners and for franchise partner needs across multiple functions including marketing, development, operations, procurement and customer experience).
  • Directs compliance of franchise partners; operational activities with established company policies for all functions of the business as per the above.
  • Prepares and presents formal performance reports of the region.
  • Conducts monthly business reviews with franchise partners and heads of functions for franchise partners.

Drives Profitability and Sales Growth

  • Creates growth strategy for the region and gains buy-in with internal stakeholders and franchise partners.
  • Assess the effectiveness of strategic initiatives including the impact on sales, traffic, basket size and loyalty.
  • Understands and influences marketing calendars and initiatives, liaison between marketing and franchisee with store activations and marketing initiatives
  • Builds understanding of the competitive landscape and industry trends within the region to determine necessary changes to strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for completing any required business and/or financial reports such as ROI analysis, quarterly and monthly performance reports, etc.
  • Quarterly Store Performance Review with Franchise Partner to review initiatives, KPIs, issues and corrective measures and the creation and review of Annual Development Plans for the location.
  • Analyze partner and market trends, regional to define opportunities and priorities to develop store strategic plan.

Improve Operations and Customer Experience

  • Uses insights from across the Spiritleaf banner to support and coach franchise partners to improve operational metrics as they relate to overall customer satisfaction, quality of service and selling strategies.
  • Problem-solves through root cause identification of operational opportunities across the franchise partner organizations and implements changes via business reviews, action plans, call cadences and other tactics.
  • Conduct and manage store audit process and secret shopper results.
  • Ensure franchise partner’s operations are running based on best practices as laid out in SOP and Ops manual.

Work and People Management

  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver against milestones for key project and initiative timelines.
  • Builds strong relationships with Franchise Partners and their staff.
  • Staff development and assist with training.

Store Development

  • Supports franchise partners with the execution of their development opportunities.
  • Manages the pipeline of openings, closures and remodels within their region.
  • Helps incentivize, problem solve and troubleshoot projects to deliver growth and strong business results.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in franchise operations
  • Knowledge of marketing, operations, development, and finance.
  • Great organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
