Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Facility Operations, the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager will be responsible for the coordination of work to ensure the successful implementation of Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, GMP and GPP production standards in pursuance of regulatory compliance and achievement of international business goals. The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager will work hand in hand with production, maintenance, facilities and shipping teams to ensure that quality standards are recognized, implemented, enhanced and maintained throughout all of production operations.

Through the successful management of targets, goals and production efficiencies, the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager will guarantee the ongoing success of the Quality Assurance team. The QA/QC Manager will advance our quality inspection, monitoring, documentation and other processes with the goal of consistent improvement of quality processes and increased efficiency while meeting all standards and regulations. The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager will assist with the development, execution and continuous monitoring of the quality assurance systems in stringent compliance with the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Establishment and enforcement of GPP/GMP, and Quality Assurance standards.
  • Ensure every lot reviewed is and released, including review of analytic, and microbial results, and facility conditions deviations and change controls
  • Manage audit and information requests from Health Canada pertaining to Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Design and write SOPs that comply with the Cannabis Regulations, Cannabis Act and GMP
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Quality Manuals, development, updates and maintenance.
  • Final release sign-offs for batch records, LoG sign-off, NCRs, CAPA, etc.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations.
  • Oversee pest control program
  • Oversee sanitation of premises in GACP and GPP environments, hygiene behaviour of personnel, and maintenance
  • Oversee the management of the Complaint program to ensure all critical trends are addressed appropriately and investigations are handled
  • Management of procedures and processes pertaining to complaints, deviations and recall.
  • Lead or assign investigation of product non-conformances; review of material, and document findings and responses for complaints. Management of product holds, reprocessing actions, and final disposition processes for non-compliant resources.
  • Oversee and manage the QA/QC department and employees. Ensure new and current staff are trained on relevant SOPs
  • Directly manage a Quality Assurance team, setting schedules and approving hours or time off-requests
  • Provide guidance to the all other areas of the facility with respect to GMP, Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations compliance including on regulation or guideline changes.
  • Ensure the Atlas standard is consistent across all sites and Quality is built into our processes
  • Manage compliance through the software for quality systems including the ERP system
  • Manage internal communication relating to Quality Assurance and work with senior leadership on external communications
  • Ensure compliance with regulations through auditing and quality systems. While performing Mock Recalls to identify and manage risk
  • Oversee critical/technical review of documents, test results, procedures and production equipment, including equipment qualification and validation.
  • Ability to establish departmental performance standards, procedures, and audit controls to meet business requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5‐10 years' experience in the Quality Assurance Field
  • B.Sc. degree or diploma in a science related field such as Chemistry, Biology and Horticulture
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, food processing, pharmaceuticals, or natural health product manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to implement and Maintain a Quality Management System including: batch record review, batch release, document control, and CAPA including quality investigations
  • Competency of technological writing (SOPs, Annual Reports, Investigation Summary)
  • Security Clearance from Health Canada may be requested and required for this position.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with GMP regulatory requirements as established by Health Canada’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Guidelines (GUI-0001) and the European Commission’s Eudralex Vol. 4 Good Manufacturing Practice Part II: Basic Requirements for Active Substances used as Starting Materials

The Asset Protection &amp; Compliance Manager will support in Health Canada compliance reporting and ensure timely installation of security systems with preferred vendors. This position will proactively mitigate retail profit loss through consultation with retail leadership teams and ensure store compliance with provincial LGCA security directives. The Asset Protection &amp; Compliance Manager will lead development of a proactive security culture to support current and future assets.</p><p><b>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES </b></p><p><b>A. </b> <b>Delta 9 Head Office &amp; Production Facility </b></p><p>· Ensure the Delta 9 Licence Producer site maintains security compliance to related Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, &amp; Health Canada CTLS security requirements.</p><p>· Support the compiling of the monthly Health Canada business reporting metrics.</p><p>· Lead security system installations with preferred venders to completion and proactively maintain all security systems to optimum operating standards.</p><p>· Maintain &amp; enhance the physical security of all Delta 9 campus buildings and ensure all 3rd party contractors are following security expectations while onsite.</p><p>· Compiling security system reporting &amp; operational proof documentation to support business licence amendments as occurring.</p><p>· Proactively audit the security system infrastructure to ensure best in class regulatory compliance associated with security deliverables in the Cannabis Act Regulations.</p><p>· Lead completion of security investigation reports and recommend corrective action as applicable.</p><p>· Maintain and administer the card access system and key control program.</p><p>· Establish security controls to maintain Delta 9 assets which includes cannabis inventory and flow of cannabis destined for retail distribution channels.</p><p>· Assume fire captain role in relation to the fire safety program and ensure annual fire drills occur.</p><p>· Lead investigations relating to security or other incidents as occurring.</p><p>· Maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to security and loss control.</p><p>· Establish working partnership District Retail Asset Protection Manager.</p><p>· Other duties as assigned.</p><p><b>B. </b><b>B2B Micro Cultivator Program </b></p><p>· Participate in meetings with prospective micro cultivator customers seeking to setup operation and design security system layouts to support their operations, including CCTV, burglar, and card access systems.</p><p>· Assist in creating layouts for the facility to facilitate Health Canada licencing process and ensure compliance to the licencing regulations for site security and flow of cannabis.</p><p>· Ensure ongoing supply and shipment of CCTV systems for cannabis grow or support pods to clients as they purchase manufactured pods from Delta 9</p><p>· Make recommendations to micro cultivation clients on key control to support their operation.</p><p>· Lead editing key licencing documents in partnership with clients to support the Health Canada micro cultivation licence application.</p><p>· Assist in compiling the video and photo evidence package to showcase client’s site to facilitate attainment of their micro cultivation licence.</p><p><b>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED </b></p><p>· Post Secondary education in criminology, business administration, or related discipline is preferred</p><p>· Min 2-5 years in experience in an asset protection or loss prevention</p><p>· 2 or more years experience in an asset protection manager or supervisor capacity preferred</p><p>· Demonstrated experience with leading regulatory compliance deliverables</p><p>· Working knowledge with writing and/or maintaining Standard Operating Procedures</p><p>· Demonstrated ability to create documents to facilitate proof of compliance to regulatory agencies</p><p>· Ability to work effectively with cross functional leaders to attain goals of the position &amp; ensure a high level of inner customer support.</p><p>· Experience with security systems installation and daily operation of CCTV, Card Access, &amp; Burglar systems</p><p>· Certification in Wicklander Zulawski Investigative Interviewing or equivalent is preferred</p><p>· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and effectively project manage to key deliverables</p><p>· Knowledge of Cannabis Regulations (2018) and Health Canada Cannabis Licence Application Guide</p><p>· Must be able to pass a criminal record check and gain Health Canada CTLS Security Clearance</p><p>· Must be 19 years of age or older</p><p>If you are looking for a dynamic growth environment, with the opportunity to learn and grow in a burgeoning industry – apply with us today!</p><p>Delta 9 values the diversity of the individuals we hire and serve.
