The Opportunity


This position is responsible for manufacturing at the Smiths Falls site in Canada. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, self-directed individual capable of multi-tasking with a high level of professionalism working with various departments.


Responsibilities
  • Reporting into the Sr Director, Manufacturing, you will ensure that all ingestible manufacturing facilities in Smiths Falls operate to the exact standards developed by Canopy, adapted with permission as necessary for the Canadian market
  • Lead and champion change management activities (i.e., frequent communication to staff and stakeholders about the change and the impact of the change)
  • Help facilitate and standardize manufacturing reporting and KPIs across Smiths Falls
  • Seek out and be an early adopter of new cannabis technology that can be leveraged to produce our products, cheaper, faster and better
  • Manage business leadership priorities of projects and requests
  • Manage ongoing operating performance against plans and budgets
  • Ensure that all Health Canada and corporate regulations and policies are being met with support of the Canopy QA team and guidance from Canopy’s QA team
  • Define operational practices to be compliant with regulatory framework
  • Lead production meetings and provide coordination to resolve issues
  • Procure all materials and services needed to operate the facility. When available use Canopy framework contracts
  • Develop and implement projects to increase efficiency, yield, productivity and capacity across all processes, always in a manner that remains consistent with the precise intellectual property and process of Canopy
  • Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are up to Ontario and OHSA code. Investigate issues and implement corrective actions
  • Along with the QA Officer, ensure full compliance with Health Canada regulations. Along with Finance, ensure full compliance with Canopy financial guidelines
  • Manage and facilitate inter-site projects
  • Ensure that Canopy best practices, standard work methods and lean methodology are used across the site
  • Manufacture to the plan as laid out by the IBP
  • Highlight issues, lead corrective actions and escalate roadblocks for prompt resolution.
  • Lead initiatives to resolve capacity issues including implementing additional work shift, sourcing additional equipment and developing CapEx needs
  • Analyze spending and identify opportunities for procurement related cost savings. Organize RFQs and ensure the scale of the company is leveraged
  • Keep track of operational KPIs and balance scorecards
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing is preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering or combined education and relevant experience
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing (e.g. Lean Green Belt certification or use of Lean and CI concepts), Six Sigma, QMS is preferred
  • Strong Analytical skills, solutions oriented and excellent creative problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Sense of urgency and responsibility to meet delivery schedules
  • Working experience in GAP, HACCP regulated environment is preferred
  • Strong computer skills
  • A people manager with strong coaching experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Other Details


This is a full-time position based out of Smiths Falls, ON. Travel will be required to other locations and possible CMOs around 10-25% of the time.

This position will provide support and oversight for all dispensary staff, including training &amp; development, adherence to standard operating procedures, and communicating with the Cresco/Sunnyside* leadership team. Provides constructive feedback that facilitates improvement</p><p>Provide expert guidance to all Store staff and clients, including customer service, strategy, operations, &amp; product.</p><p>Proactively mitigate business, operational &amp; governance risks</p><p>Maintain and enforce a culture of compliance for all activities with strict adherence to the Florida Statues for THC and CBD products, as well as regulations set forth by local, state and federal agencies such as OSHA</p><p>Be the store expert and understand the competitive landscape, business risk and opportunities</p><p>Ensure implementation and effectiveness of all systems and processes in their Store</p><p>Be a visible ambassador of the Store's brands and promise</p><p>Assist Store Manager with regular and random inventory counts and daily inventory compliance procedures</p><p>Accurately reconciles daily cash drawers and nightly cash deposits and weekly pickups</p><p><b>Required competency to learn, understand, and accurately perform functionality within:</b></p><p>Seed-to-sale POS/CRM (Biotrack THC)</p><p>FL Dept. of Health OMMU Patient Registry</p><p>Delivery software task management</p><p>Microsoft Office suite; gmail/google suite; etc.</p><p>Maintain strictest confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines</p><p>Desire to constantly learn and seek out new information about cannabis as a medicine and understand cannabis in general.
