Job Description

Deseret Wellness is seeking a Controller that will serve as a key member of the management team, providing leadership and coordination in the financial, accounting, administrative and budgeting activities of the organization.

The Controller will be responsible for the finance and accounting operations of Deseret Wellness, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls to mitigate risk, ensure compliance with applicable rules and laws, and enhance the accuracy of the company's financial reporting. We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about helping patients and recognizes that their role is critical to the Company’s mission of improving patients’ quality of life through education and alternative therapies in a safe and compliant environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist management with important financial decisions
  • Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business
  • Monitor the company's financial reports and determines ways to reduce costs
  • Keep up-to-date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits
  • Understand the financials of the company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing
  • Audit Payroll
  • Prepare Budgets and Work with the Companies Tax Professionals to file Taxes
  • Oversee A/P and A/R accounts
  • Help management determine pricing and manage inventory levels
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to the Market President.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Available to work during operating hours and after hours for inventory or other required tasks.
  • History of P&L management.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks.
  • Accounting experience with inventory and retail related operations is required. Accounting experience with marijuana dispensaries is preferred but not required.

Conditions

  • May include sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.
