You know some basic SQL and have worked with Looker (or another BI tool – Tableau, Power BI, Domo, etc.) before. You understand that not everyone is as well versed in analytics, and so you’re passionate about democratizing data-driven decision making to be more understandable and actionable for the masses. You enjoy getting into the nitty gritty from the perspective of an analyst, but can zoom out to think about the bigger picture product strategy and user experience – a wearer of many hats. You’re curious, confident asking questions, and like to get to the bottom of things. You’re also comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a startup environment and are excited to shape a growing organization and industry.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Product Owner(BI/Data Visualization) will join the Cannalytics product team, building analytics solutions specifically for the cannabis industry – including retailers, manufacturers, cultivators, and state governments. You will interpret and distill complex and nascent client business requests into clear questions that can be answered with specific data, visualizing that data in compelling ways to enable customers to quickly make decisions for their business. You’ll develop and build dashboards directly in Looker using POS (point of sale) data from our customers. You will uncover the needs and pain points of those different customers and incorporate their feedback into product enhancements and new feature designs. Some of your time will also be spent collaborating with our Customer Success team on training content and thinking about creative, engaging ways to drive usage of the platform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST HAVES:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (preferably in a technical discipline)

1-2 years experience in BI / business analytics role with demonstrated ability to gather requirements and effectively answering questions with data through relevant, readable visualizations

Working knowledge of data visualization best practices and BI tools (you’ve used one of these tools on a daily basis: preferably Looker, or Tableau, Power BI, etc.)

Strong problem solving, analytics, and decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, diagnose issues, and develop and propose solutions

Experience conducting user and/or stakeholder interviews to gather feedback and prioritize product enhancement requests

Outstanding communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation skills

Strong attention to detail & meticulous self-editing (you’d notice if the font size on the x & y axes were different, or if a title were misspelled)

Comfortable in a remote-first, startup environment.
