Commercial Cannabis Cultivation Technician


Pay: $18 - $20 per hour


Schedule:

  • 25 – 35 hours per week
  • Occasional weekend shifts required


Work Location: One location


Be able to complete a variety of plant care independently including, but not limited to:


  • Assist with de-leafing, harvesting, cleaning, transporting plants, and basic handy work when needed
  • Monitor various aspects of plant health including signs of disease or infestation and communicate any issues to the cultivation management team
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment to mitigate potential pest problems and facilitate an organized and efficient workflow
  • Keep all equipment clean and sanitized
  • Identify and report irregularities and/or variances from Standard Operating Procedures to management
  • Regularly check and interact on Greenshift’s employee app to best communicate with the team about all information pertinent to specific areas of cultivation
  • Be willing to wear many hats – assist where help is needed
  • Coordinate plant schedules and tasks with management team
  • Wear provided uniform at all times unless directly instructed otherwise
  • Inspect all materials and equipment to detect malfunctions
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Carefully follow directions as provided by the Chief of Cultivation


Job Qualifications:


Commercial or Residential Cannabis Experience Prefered.


  • Must be 21+, with a valid State ID, and able to pass additional background screening.
  • High School Diploma or greater required
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of botany, horticulture, and agriculture preferrred
  • Knowledge of production tools and equipment
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong problem solving/communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Maintain a culture of professionalism
  • Must be hard working, responsible, and trustworthy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work on your feet for 8+ hours

The Crop Production Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Cultivation Supervisor and Crop Production Manager with coordinating planting, feeding, spraying, harvesting, and cultivating cannabis and hemp. The incumbent will be held accountable for plant health, soil health, and overall cleanliness and appearance of all CCA associated properties. This position might require exposure to and use of chemical compounds for application on crops which may be hazardous and cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, application, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed.The working environment will include office, warehouse, shop, and greenhouse/hoop house environments. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities: What You'll DoParticipate in the planning, preparation, and execution of CCA activities with the VP of cultivation, Director of Cultivation, Crop Production Manager, and Cultivation Supervisor to assess and complete projects related to all Central Coast Agricultural farming.Inspect the plants regularly and identify horticultural tasks that need to be performed. Prioritize horticultural tasks, develop work schedules, and coordinate their implementation with senior staff.Assist with monitoring and tracking soil and plant health through tissue and soil tests, working closely with vendors and their agronomists on long term soil viability plans.Assist the Crop Production Manager and Cultivation Supervisor in monitoring soil moisture probes and field walks to determine water needs for the cannabis plants.Be ready to assist in the irrigation and fertigation of the cannabis plants when asked to do so by senior staff.Must be able to keep accurate records of total amounts of water and nutrients applied to a specific range and record that information in a Nitrogen use Log.Train and supervise staff in all aspects of plant maintenance and development including soil preparation, planting &amp; transplanting, mulching, watering, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, propagating, raking, tree &amp; brush cutting, chipping, and the proper use of shovels, trowels, fan rakes, grading rakes, spades, digging forks, pickaxes, brooms, hand shears, hand saws, loppers, pole pruners &amp; pole saws, wheelbarrows, fertilizer spreaders, garden carts, ladders, and other hand tools.Track hours of CCA staff as well as any temporary staff assigned to cultivation and work directly with the cultivation supervisors, payroll and HR departments regarding staffing needs and payroll tracking.Train and supervise staff in the proficient operation of, garden utility vehicles, tractors, pickup/dump trucks, chainsaws, chippers, and other power equipment following CCA safety protocols and regulatory standards.Provide hands-on assistance with the completion of work tasks, when needed while tracking and documenting field activities as directed by supervisors or management. Evaluate cultivation needs and supplies inventory. Work with the purchasing department on inventory replenishment of BOM needs.Monitor gardens and plant collections for pests and diseases. Report pest and disease problems to the IPM department.Create a harmonious and productive work environment. Addresses discipline issues and report them properly to senior staff and HR.
