Packaging Manager

GreenForce is working with a client to fill their need for a temporary Packaging Manager while their current manager is on maternity leave. This position would be from August - December 2021, though it could lead to a permanent hire.

Your direct supervisor is the Operations Manager. You are required to work directly with and in good communication with the Sales Department.

Compensation: $18-22/hour

Managing Packaging Team:

• Assign all task for packaging team at start of day. Make sure they understand the process you assign, and how you want product stored and handled when they take breaks, lunch or leave for the day.

• Organize packaging dept schedules. All employees request for time off will go through you. All employees must notify you of an unexpected absence, illness, or if they are going to be late.

• Work with operations manager to hire new packaging staff as needed.

• Train (or facilitate training through another packaging team member) any new packaging team employees and make sure they have a good understanding of exactly how we like items handled, grammed and stored.

• Making sure all scrum is accounted for and in the scrum box.


• Create new labels using templates in Adobe using the test results.

• Print labels for packaging crew with efficiency and ahead of time in order to plan for what is next.

• Make sure labels go through a QC process and facilitate the process for labels before they are printed. Make sure we have a SIGN OFF on the QC form.

• Work with printer leasing company to make sure printer is working correctly, has ink, and proper maintenance is scheduled.

• Make sure we have labels in stock and keep running counts to know when to reorder so we do not run out.

Product Inventory:

• Create and Update packaging status spreadsheet weekly (or more if needed). Always Coordinate with Sales and Operations Manager as to what is priority for packaging.

• Work with Warehouse Manager and have an idea of what is out for testing and when it might be back from testing (5-8 business days is normal turnaround time).

• Knowledge and competency of the METRC inventory system. Be able to receive transfers, and know how to transfer product out. Work with Inventory manager to troubleshoot inventory issues.

Supplies Inventory:

• Organize packaging supplies, and do a weekly inventory to know what needs to be ordered and what we are low on. MAKE SURE WE NEVER run out of packaging supplies. Work with warehouse manager to get supplies ordered.

• Make sure warehouse and packaging building have enough packaging supplies inventory, and if low order more or communicate with Warehouse Manager to get the supplies ordered

Act as a communication intermediary between cross-functional departments. Handle daily operations with a focus on efficiency and time management, maintaining intra-office/lab/kitchen communication protocols, streamlining administrative procedures, inventory control, and task delegation.
