Our client is a chemical manufacturer that services many industries including food, cannabis, and environmental testing. They are looking to continue to grow their established team to continue to provide top-notch service for their clientele. They are currently looking for a Research Chemist to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$80k annually depending on experience

Position Overview:

The Research Chemist will use analytical instrumentation such as GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, and LC-MS/MS to plan and execute method development, method validation, and method transfer studies. The ideal Research Chemist is a key contributor and will ensure that the organization stays up to date with FDA and EPA guidelines.

Responsibilities of the Research Chemist:

  • Plan and execute method development, method validation, and method transfer studies
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments including GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, and LC-MS/MS
  • Perform routine solid-phase extractions on biological specimens
  • Assist in the development of new methods to address specific requests using existing sample preparation and chromatography products
  • Stay up-to-date with US FDA and EPA guidelines and other industry regulations to ensure company products can be used in future methods for food safety, cannabis, and environmental testing
  • Provide technical laboratory support for research projects involving food safety, environmental testing (e.g. drinking water), and cannabis
  • Conduct training and educational seminars geared towards the food safety, cannabis, and environmental markets when called upon
  • Design and troubleshoot research projects with assistance from the R&D Supervisor
  • Assist other chemists in the maintenance and upkeep of the lab
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Research Chemist:

  • Minimum of 2 years of method development, sample preparation, and analytical instrumentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and technical writing experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team setting

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Food Safety, or related scientific field of study, is required
  • Master’s degree is preferred
