THE OPPORTUNITY

(Candidate must reside in one of the listed states: VA, PA, MA, OH, CO, OR FL)

The National Director of Manufacturing will be responsible for assisting the VP of Manufacturing with planning and overseeing manufacturing within the company. This role will be responsible for aligning corporate directives and initiatives, ensuring the required level of quality, safety, and service is achieved by holding the staff accountable. The National Director of Manufacturing will assist in facility design, equipment selection, scientific development, product formulation, identifying and tracking KPIs established by executive management and will be responsible for ensuring brand and product alignment. Additionally, this role will be directly involved in managing safety programs and compliance, ensuring all state and local regulations are followed.


  • Work closely with VP to make operational decisions related to the manufacturing of cannabis products
  • Assist with process and product development for all forms of cannabis oil, distillate, concentrates, and vaporization products
  • Optimize and scale up existing products and processes
  • Develop and innovate extraction methodologies (CO2, LPG, and SL), refinement and distillation processes in collaboration with local teams
  • Work with manufacturing teams to solve difficult technical problems and coach personnel in solving technical problems
  • Assist local operations with equipment installations and upgrades in collaboration with vendors and partners
  • Provide technical support to regional directors to ensure process and equipment functionality and optimization
  • Work with VP to develop training and implementation programs as they relate to acquisitions and process improvement
  • With VP, develop and maintain KPIs for monitoring operational and equipment efficiency of manufacturing programs
  • Work closely with vendors, construction project managers, procurement, and accounting as it relates to equipment selection, engineering coordination and purchasing
  • Work with local directors and manufacturing team members to standardize processes and scientific developments across all locations
  • Evaluate performance of operations by gathering and analyzing data and metrics
  • Collaborate with quality to document all process SOPs, manufacturing protocols, MMR’s, and batch records with the utilization of QMS to ensure consistent products and high-quality control


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Engineering, or similar field with equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience managing equipment, product, staff, and resources in a large-scale cannabis or manufacturing operation
  • Strong working knowledge of extraction methodologies (CO2, hydrocarbon, solventless, ethanol)
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations, local and state governing bodies, OSHA, and other relevant worker safety regulations in a manufacturing environment
  • Industry experience in cannabis, hemp, alternative medicine, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical industry
  • Laboratory, formulation, compounding and use of laboratory equipment and manufacturing tools required
  • Proficient in general chemistry formulation and pharmacy compounding equations
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve manufacturing objectives in terms of volume, product mix, cost, and quality
  • Extensive knowledge in environmental, health and safety standards in laboratory, pharmaceutical, or food safety operations required
  • Enjoys working in a start-up, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Most time will be spent on the development and training of staff, driving sales, ensuring guests receive high quality service, upholding the Urbn Leaf brand standards and operating all aspects of the dispensary under the direction of the General Manager.</p><p><b>Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p><p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Oversee dispensary team including but not limited to: reception, budtenders, security, dispatch and delivery drivers</li><li>Ensure time is effectively split between all departments as needed</li><li>Ensure all technology platforms are updated with our most current information (specials, events, marketing materials)</li><li>Ensure all staff is on time, well-groomed and in clean uniforms</li><li>Handle all returns, exchanges and employee purchases</li><li>Ensure that Inventory Manager is notified of all returns so this may be communicated to the vendor and product replaced or credit given</li><li>Complete checkouts for budtenders and delivery drivers ensuring all cash handling procedures are being followed</li><li>Responsible for all cash in drop safe and vault</li><li>Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed and the venue is completely secured before departing at night or opening in the morning</li><li>Meet with management team to ensure proper follow-up on all action items and address any personnel issues</li><li>Report all relevant operational information to General Manager</li><li>Handle customer issues and concerns in a professional and effective manner</li><li>Handle all scheduling and coordinate staff onboarding with talent acquisition</li><li>Responsible for POS updates and maintenance in conjunction with inventory personnel</li><li>Collaborate with human resources to ensure the venue is compliant with all pertinent employee rules and regulations</li><li>Execute marketing efforts as directed by the marketing team</li><li>Ensure proper ambiance and cleanliness within venue at all times</li><li>Ensure that the Urbn Leaf brand is always properly represented</li><li>Execute quarterly all staff meetings and venue cleanings</li><li>Train and develop employees from within</li><li>Assist with quarterly shift lead reviews, 90-day reviews for new employees as well as annual reviews for all line level staff</li><li>Work with management team to create and implement staff incentive programs to increase level of service, promote upselling, and enhance staff morale</li><li>Read industry publications to keep up-to-date on trends</li><li>Create and implement policies and procedures that will enhance customer service</li><li>Enforce all policies and procedures of venue and the company</li><li>Manage floor to ensure staff is on task at all times</li><li>Perform any other duties and projects assigned by Senior Management</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>At least 3 years of management experience in high volume establishments with extensive knowledge in the cannabis industry</li><li>Must be able to input and access information in the POS system, delivery systems, marketing outlets, computers, etc.</li><li>Must be comfortable learning new skills</li><li>Must have a hands-on, proactive management style</li></ul><p><b>Skills and Attitudes:</b></p><p>Must be motivated, hard-working, and passionate.
