Position Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer-(ASME Specialty) is responsible for leading and managing project work for all division product offerings. This person is an experienced engineer who applies and leads others in the application of engineering best practices. The Senior Engineer will demonstrate initiative to continuously improve and streamline engineering workflow, prioritizing safety, quality, delivery and the customer experience. This position will require an extensive background in the design of ASME Section VIII Div 1 pressure vessels and the creation of documentation required to perform ASME Section VIII Div 1 R stamp repairs as well as preparation and submission of CRN documentation to accompany system designs.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)

  • Acts as Primary Investigator (PI) on large, complex projects to ensure all technical tasks are completed on time and within established budgets, and reports progress to other team members, including management
  • Design and create engineering documents, including procedures and project management guides for the department using discretion, experience and knowledge of complex machinery.
  • Analyzes gaps between customer needs and current capabilities to determine best path forward for continuous improvement of equipment
  • Strong experience with reviewing project design plans and specifications.
  • Has demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail; proven track record leading and successfully completing small and large scale projects.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering documents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Prepares letters to customers and designers for such things as information requests, technical guidance, transmittal comments/questions, etc.
  • Works independently and receives minimal guidance.
  • Works collaboratively with others to implement changes required for regulatory compliance of equipment related to standards (current and future) for equipment certifications
  • Create and update designs for ASME U and R stamp pressure vessel projects
  • Prepare and submit certification documents for vessels and systems related to CRN and PED for new and existing components and systems

Secondary Accountabilities

  • Committed to successfully mentoring and training junior staff.
  • Occasional on-site Technical Representative to evaluate field installations and/or perform or assist with field service activities

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field

5+ year's of experience as senior engineer preferred

Experience in project management, design, and continuous improvement

Advanced level of proficiency with engineering software

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Must be able to sit, walk, see, and hear

A combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a Bachelor's degree if the applicant possesses the required skills and knowledge to perform the duties of the position
