Soon to be one of the largest cannabis producers in the state, we are looking for a dedicated Head Grower to lead our cultivation team at our newly constructed Phoenix, AZ campus. This position will be responsible for daily cultivation operations at a state-of-the-art indoor 3-tier vertical cannabis grow facility. The ideal candidate will need to possess a solid understanding in production operations and will directly oversee trimming, post-harvest operations, etc.

An ideal candidate will possess at least one to three years of experience in a similar capacity in the cannabis and/or hemp industry and have overseen cannabis grow facilities of 50,000 square feet or larger. Candidates who have operated a start-up plant or have start-up experience will thrive in this position.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure all cultivation methods and processes are consistently updated to leverage commercial horticultural production standards and methods

  • Develop, review and revise crop production budgets on an ongoing basis in order to ensure maximum value generation from all budgeted expenditures

  • Maintain, update and audit plant inventories in the point-of-sale platform on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with state seed-to-sale tracking

  • Create and improve quality standards and procedures for processing operations

  • Troubleshoot crop health, fertility, and pest management as they arise during regular crop production

  • requirements for cannabis cultivation operations

  • Coordinate cultivation production scheduling to determine adequate production output of plant material to meet KPI standards

  • Sound understanding of the financial principles applicable to effective planning, budgeting, and control of costs in crop production

  • Manage scheduling and assignment of tasks across the department to ensure adherence to production schedule and room harvest rotations

  • Manage the daily output of plants and train and develop hourly staff

  • Oversee daily grow operations for the entire site and responsibly manage up to 10 supervisors

  • Provide ongoing training in policies and procedures for all department team members

  • Provide support with regulatory audits, financial audits, etc. as needed

  • Other duties as assigned


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years or older with no excluded felony convictions

  • Must be an Arizona resident and possess valid driver's license or state ID

  • Must be able to obtain a Facility Agent or Dispensary Agent license

  • 1-3+ years' experience in the cannabis industry required

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, or related field preferred

  • Expert knowledge of plant diseases, insects, fungi as well as plant treatment processes

  • Solid understanding of cannabis plant grow specifics

  • Experience growing with different mediums, vertical grows, and LED lighting

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required

  • Experience utilizing commercial fertigation systems

  • Extensive knowledge regarding both the environmental, health and safety standards for agricultural operations

  • Expert-level understanding of post-harvest processing in a large-scale agriculture or plant operation required

  • Prior experience in a start-up facility or environment preferred

  • LeafLogix experience preferred

  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.

  • Frequently works in rooms with bright light where eye protection is needed.

  • Frequently works in rooms with moderate heat and humidity.

  • The person in this position is constantly exposed to moderate background noise due to environmental systems, equipment and fans.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting, standing and walking required throughout shift.

  • Constant movement of hands/fingers and limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.

  • Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to maintain/inspect plants.

  • Occasionally operates power hand tools, lifts and other cultivation machinery.

  • Must be able to inspect and detect quality deviations and defects.

  • Occasional lifting, positioning, or moving items up to 100 pounds with assistance.
