Reporting to the Director of Product Commercialization, and working closely with the Commercialization Managers, this role will be responsible for supporting the product development process at The Valens Company, from ideation to commercialization. The Commercialization Specialist will also be a critical source of data analytics and performance reporting for the entire Marketing team, including the Vice President of Marketing and the Chief Commercial Officer, mining competitive insights, tracking industry trends, and Valens Company brand’s share performance across Canada, and in select markets.

As a Commercialization Specialist* you will: *

  • Data analysis on market performance to gain competitive, category, and consumer insights
  • Assist the Commercialization Managers and Director of Commercialization to execute new product launch projects, including but limited to:
  • Creating and maintaining detailed critical paths for each major project
  • Working cross-functionally with team members in Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Regulatory, QA, and R&D to deliver on new launch requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues on new product launch projects, as they arise
  • Gather information from external brand partners (where applicable) to ensure alignment on product launches (i.e. product specs, forecasting, pricing, etc.)
  • Be involved in commercial product forecasting in conjunction with the cross-functional team
  • Assist in the creation, documentation and implementation of new product launch processes, including but not limited to the Stage Gate process
  • Be the ‘subject matter expert’ on The Valens Company’s product categories**

As a Commercialization Specialist* you bring: *

  • BA in Business or other related field
  • 1-3 years experience with new product launch / innovation process and data analytics at a CPG, Beverage Alcohol, Cannabis or other related industry
  • Collaborative team player with strong influencing skills who can build relationships across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward
  • Excellent facility with analytics and making data-based business recommendations
  • Clear passion for and solid understanding of cannabis and cannabis-based products
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different functional groups, business owners, and senior business leaders both in person and on paper
  • Comfort with ambiguity and creating process solutions in novel situations
  • Expert proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Sense of urgency and affinity for fast moving industries
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory criminal record check
