Key Responsibilities

• PRODUCT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT AND INNOVATION: Assess sales and consumer trends to inform commercial recommendations on product portfolio optimizations, rationalization, and new product innovation recommendations.

• Responsible for contributing to new product definition (including pricing) and development of GTM commercial launch plans and assets for patients/consumers.

• MARKET AND CONSUMER TRENDS: Maintain a thorough knowledge of cannabis industry, brand competitive set, category trends and consumer segments.

• Leverages and collects consumer and patient data to analyze and summarize insights and trends. Thought leader internally on consumer motivations and what drives them to purchase and engage with our brands and products.

• GLOBAL INTEGRATION: Lead development of marketing materials to support global product launches and ongoing engagement across international markets.

• Contribute to the global strategy for Beacon Medical branded products including portfolio, content development, promotion, and partnerships.

• Work closely with Canadian colleagues and Global VIVO market leaders (Australia & EU) to ensure each region’s stakeholder engagement and marketing strategy aligns with corporate vision.

• MARKETING STRATEGY AND ACTIVATION: Collaborate in the creation of marketing plans, to support forecasted sales volumes (by region and channel) with data supported strategy and tactical execution plans laddering up to overall VIVO Commercial strategy.

• Maintain and support the growth of our brands by identifying, executing, and optimizing quarterly channels plans, partnership, acquisition, and outreach tactics.

• Propose ongoing strategic sales and marketing promotions, including pricing evaluations and recommendations.

• Closely collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience colleagues to develop growth strategies and a roadmap for acquisition, retention, and reactivation of consumers/patients with a strong focus on ROI.

• DIGITAL & SOCIAL STRATEGY: Contribute to digital and social strategy and execution for the Canna Farms medical ecommerce marketplace, email marketing, brand social channels, brand websites, digital trade assets, digital acquisition, and referral programs.

• Take a data-driven approach to measure efficacy of digital channels to grow and optimize them effectively

• CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION: Communicate proactively with Sales, Operations, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, Product Development to facilitate product commercialization of both new and existing products.

• RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND LEVERAGING: Build relationships with strategic partners, businesses and associations that can influence growth and preference for VIVO brands. Support sales in their relationships with key retailers, clinics, and physicians.

• BUDGET OWNERSHIP: Meet marketing financial objectives; collaborate on annual budget creation; execute to plan and daily management of expenditures; analyze variances; initiate corrective actions as needed.

• MARKETING LEADERSHIP & AGENCY MANAGEMENT: Manage external partner agencies, consultants, freelancers, and other suppliers, who provide marketing, strategy, or digital services to VIVO, ensuring value for money and inspiring them to create outstanding execution of marketing programs to drive results through detailed KPIs.

• PROBLEM SOLVING: Demonstrate an ongoing ability to determine specific simplified actions to keep solving issues & take advantage of opportunities – works well in a team environment

• CANNABIS REGULATIONS AND COMPLIANCE: Become familiar on Cannabis Regulations in Canada and how products are produced, distributed, and sold in Canada, additionally ensure a clear understanding of the regulatory environment and framework and work closely with the Quality Assurance and Legal departments to ensure full compliance

Qualifications and Skills

Academic/Educational Requirements

• Bachelor or Master’s degree/diploma in business administration, marketing, or relevant field

• 5+ years of experience in marketing and brand management; new product launch experience required

• Several years of experience and success in digital project ownership and execution required

• 2+ years of experience in cannabis industry as asset (pharmaceutical, beverage-alcohol, CPG, cosmetics, food, health, and beauty industries also considered)

Required Skills/Experience/Knowledge

• Project management and product management – prior commercial launch experience required

This role is for an individual that is passionate about leveraging consumer, shopper, and market insights to understand key trends necessary to curate an assortment of products that are of interest to our customers. To achieve this, it will be expected that you help manage productive relationships with Health Canada authorized licensed producers, work collaboratively with various OCS lines of business, and engage our customers to understand their needs. This role is an exciting opportunity for an organized and driven retail expert who demonstrates strong analytical and emotional intelligence skills.</p><p>About your Day</p><p>• Determine product assortment for a specific business line, including negotiating costs and setting retails in alignment with the corporate priorities and annual plans.</p><p>• Utilize industry knowledge, identify market trends, and monitor retail pricing to leverage opportunities to delight consumers and better compete with the illegal market.</p><p>• Collaborate closely with other OCS business areas, including Consumer &amp; Market Insights, Supply Chain, Store Partnerships, E-commerce, Marketing, and Quality Assurance teams</p><p>• Establish and maintain strong collaborative supplier relationships with licensed procedures of all sizes across all regions of Canada.</p><p>• Develop and operate within a product assortment framework and open to buy budget to deliver on profit targets.</p><p>• Work closely with licensed producers to continuously improve product quality and consistency</p><p>• Lead and evaluate product call submissions, complete category line reviews, initiate and maintain contract negotiations/renewals</p><p>• Onboard new licensed producers, ensuring compliance to OCS standards</p><p>• Complete periodic business reviews with licensed producers to provide them full clarity on their current performance and how they can improve the business with the OCS</p><p>• Collaborate with supply chain on initial forecasting and inventory management</p><p>• Prepare and deliver periodic presentations on category strategy and performance to OCS leadership</p><p>• Provide leadership to the team by demonstrating product knowledge and an understanding of the customer through insights and data analytics.</p><p><b>About You</b></p><p>• Completion of post-secondary education in business administration / commerce, finance, marketing, or related field.</p><p>• 5+ years of direct ownership of retail purchasing, merchandising and procurement within complex category assortment.</p><p>• Excellent organization and ability to work independent as well as part of a collaborative team.</p><p>• Strong analytic skills, including a deep understanding of retail financing, merchandising strategies, and ability to conduct business analysis and interpretation of complex category data.</p><p>• Strong negotiating experience, particularly in a retail merchandising environment.</p><p>• Understanding of working within growing retail and wholesale businesses.</p><p>• Ability to translate and present complex content into clear and engaging presentations.</p><p>• Ability to work in fast paced environment with an agile mindset to meet changing needs of consumers.</p><p>• Experience working in a regulated retail industry would be an asset, but not mandatory.</p><p>• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.</p><p>• Knowledge of PowerBI and Microsoft D365 would be an asset.</p><p>• Understanding and knowledge of the cannabis industry would be a strong asset but not mandatory.</p><p>Remote Work</p><p>• This position offers a Hybrid work schedule.
