Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Services Manager (SSM) II, the SSM I supervises the Department of Cannabis Control's (Department) Transactions and Disability Unit. The SSM I is responsible for providing supervision, technical expertise, training, guidance, assistance, and support to the staff.

Special Requirements

Conflict of Interest – This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Conflict of Interest Regulations. This is an important key position for the Desert Hot Springs location. </b></p><p><b>To learn more about the company at www.dreamfields.com.</b></p><p><b>Daily Responsibilities: </b></p><ul><li><b>The ability to manage various company audits including California State Sales Tax, Workers Compensation, Voluntary, Public Audits, etc.</b></li><li><b>Analyze budgets versus actuals and identify variances &amp; cost implications</b></li><li><b>Produce costing models and reports to support decision making</b></li><li><b>Maintain an active cashflow forecasting model for the company</b></li><li><b>Management of the accounting team and respective accounting functions</b></li><li><b>Complete account reconciliations</b></li><li><b>Enforce and assist in the design of accounting and operational controls and policies.</b></li><li><b>Oversee the accuracy of relevant HR functions including payroll processing, commission reports, job postings, recruitment, etc.</b></li><li><b>Oversee Account Receivables and Accounts Payable ensuring the accounting team is timely and accurately executing these key functions.</b></li><li><b>Inventory reconciliation into company balance sheet including purchasing, receiving, exchanges, disputes, etc.</b></li><li><b>Ensure accuracy and timely filing of Sales tax, Excise Tax, Cultivation Tax, Payroll, et al reports for various authorities</b></li><li><b>General Ledger entries, reconciliations of accounts, preparing financial statements</b></li><li><b>Analyze financials and make recommendations to management when appropriate.</b></li><li><b>Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly and year-end reports including cashflow, operational performance, and financial reporting to the corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). </b></li></ul><p><b>Required Skills &amp; Traits: </b></p><ul><li><b>A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a related discipline. </b></li><li><b>CPA license.</b></li><li><b>7 or more years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility.</b></li><li><b>Management or leadership experience in an organization with 500 or more employees.</b></li><li><b>Self-starter, with strong organizational abilities, including ability to engage in the direct performance and oversight of a broad range of department operating tasks. </b></li><li><b>Deep understanding of GAAP and ability to apply accounting knowledge to a range of technical accounting issues. </b></li><li><b>Able to apply organizational skills and strong attention to detail to the preparation, review, and maintenance of all accounts within the division at high transaction volumes. </b></li><li><b>Extremely strong skills in the use Excel and Google Sheets, including the design of complex formulas, use of pivot tables, and strong data and visual analytics. </b></li><li><b>Familiarity with Fishbowl as an Inventory Costing System and understanding of cost accounting. </b></li><li><b>Very strong understanding of QuickBooks is a MUST! </b></li><li><b>Experience with full ERP systems and system conversions an asset, particularly in relation to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other Microsoft ERP products. </b></li><li><b>Must be willing to roll up your sleeves and dig into the details!</b></li><li><b>Public company Accounting Experience is a big plus! </b></li><li><b>Must have strong collaborative abilities, both within the accounting department and alongside a range of departments within the organization. </b></li><li><b>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </b></li><li><b>Professional demeanor, team oriented, great organizational skills and a go getter with a positive attitude.</b></li><li><b>Demonstrates a desire to learn and assume responsibility.</b></li><li><b>Strong commitment to the job and the organization.
