Join our team

As the successful Logistics Manager, you will be working with our National Logistics Manager (8 years with Speedling) and the rest of the logistics team. This role is responsible for managing the warehouse, control inventory, logistics and packaging activities for the East Coast nurseries. Key responsibilities are to ensure that all department activities are controlled in an efficient and effective manner while supporting the timely fulfillment of customer orders and ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety policies and regulations to promote a safe work environment. In addition, the Logistics Manager will identify cost saving opportunities through freight consolidation, overseeing the Shipping/Receiving function, keeping in mind the timeliness of receiving of raw materials and transporting the material into the production area and maintain extremely accurate inventory records and work proactively to improve the overall operations of the facility.

The job details

  • Ensure cost effective and efficient use of freight/transportation including company owned and external freight solution.
  • Creates and reviews procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize internal and external customer satisfaction and minimize cost.
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system.
  • Prepare and manage annual budget for department.
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock report etc)
  • Develops solutions that leverage the Company's volumes, systems and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
  • Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management in order to achieve efficient product distribution.
  • Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and facilitate action on these plans for the assigned area.
  • Ensure accurate compliance of negotiated terms with customers, vendors and suppliers.
  • Review processes to minimize errors and maximize purchase spending.
  • Manage freight carriers to address and resolve discrepancies on freight bills and negotiate excessive charges on freight bills with our carriers.
  • Respond to issues raised by our customers and vendors, and follow-up with the carriers when there are problems with freight damage, shortages, incorrect charges and emergencies. Investigate problems and issues and resolve these efficiently.
  • Work closely with other departments; including, but not limited to manufacturing, maintenance, purchasing, customer service, sales and accounting to ensure effective communication and support of company directives, customer requirements and process needs. Develop and maintain a strong sense of teamwork among the departments.

The Facility Operations Manager is responsible for People, Process, Product and Infrastructure which includes the management and accountability for compliance, P&amp;L, budgets, cash flow and production targets, human resources, repairs and maintenance, health and safety and security. This includes leading all cultivation, manufacturing and production agents, including schedules, training, policy and procedure updates, industry news, and product information as well as lead procurement, waste disposal and inventory management activities. The position must maintain strong partnerships with corporate leaders of Infrastructure, Horticulture, Manufacturing and Compliance. The Cultivation and Manufacturing Facility is a busy operation and therefore the ability to organize, prioritize and delegate tasks is a key requirement.
