POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for organizing and maintaining laboratory operations, procedures, scheduling and staffing to ensure cost-efficient and timely production of medical cannabis products. This role reports to the Production Director and focuses heavily on the oversight and management of daily lab personnel activities related to production and performance, while also monitoring and validating compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and safety guidelines.

Local applicants are preferred, relocation assistance negotiable.

Core Competencies:

· Oversee daily lab manufacturing, safety, and operations

· Perform and train on laboratory techniques including distillation, ethanol-based extraction, filtration, evaporation, and general laboratory techniques

· Manage and provide scheduling and training for Lab Technicians and Specialists

· Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment

· Implement processes and systems to maximize laboratory efficiency and effectiveness

· Work with 3rd party laboratories to interpret and troubleshoot analytical results

· Act as a liaison between Sales team, customers, and lab personnel to address customer questions, complaints and grievances and provide customer support

· Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws, as well as with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures

· Develop and implement process workflows, production schedules and performance goals

· Meet regularly with laboratory personnel to set, review, and monitor work priorities

· Coordinate instrument installation and maintenance project plans, while ensuring timely completion of projects.

· Generate standard and ad hoc reports to include production analysis, sales, and operations

· Work with management team to continuously improve policies and operating procedures

Core Competencies:

· Excellent management skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and a technical team

· Highly detail oriented and organized, critical eye for optimizing workflows

· Experience with analytical equipment preferred (HPLC, GC-MS)

· Excellent communication skills with ability to explain organizational goals and specific tasks clearly

· Ability to inspire and motivate employees; encourage productivity, teamwork, and a collaborative environment

· 2-3 years of experience managing in a laboratory environment required

Education & Background Requirements:

· Must have valid, unexpired, driver’s license

· Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry

· Minimum of 21 years of age as required by state statute

· Must pass background and fingerprint check, per applicable requirements set forth under state statute

· High School Diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work 7 days per week including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

· Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds

· Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout a workday

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time

· Ability to use a ladder (up to 12 ft. extension) and general hardware tools needed for common repairs

· Ability and willingness to work in the following conditions:

· Exposure to pollen, allergens, and chemical pesticides in the grow facility or greenhouse

· Environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water

· Management reserves the right to assign other job duties as necessary

· Must have reliable transportation and flexibility in scheduling

· Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
