We are seeking a Laboratory Analyst with recent HPLC, GC-MS/MS, GC-MS/HS, and LC-MS/MS experience for our Santa Barbara County facility.

The Laboratory Analyst will work directly with the Senior Analyst to execute sample analysis for our Cannabis clients using HPLC, GC-MS/MS, GC-MS/HS, and LC-MS/MS instruments.

This position must work under the current ISO 17025 standards and will be responsible for all work performed in support of their assigned assay.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routine analysis of samples using analytical procedures for which training has occurred.
  • Participate in OOS & CAPA reports, as assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain traceable, reproducible, and reliable results with limited supervision.
  • Scientific writing for reporting, data management reporting, and ability to follow standard operating procedures a must.
  • Full training, proficiency, and operation of the lab designated LIMS system for client samples
  • Routine and non-routine equipment maintenance of analytical instruments.
  • Successful completion of proficiency testing samples and initial demonstration of capability to demonstrate competence as required for certifications or customer requests.
  • Participate in the revision of existing procedures and the drafting of new procedures under the supervision of the Senior Analyst.

Preferred Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related Chemistry field required.
  • Must have experience with analytical techniques including, but not limited to: GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS, and HPLC. Experience with ICP-MS is a plus
  • Strong instrument and cannabis analytical assay troubleshooting skills. Method development work in different cannabis matrices is a plus
  • Must have a history of working in a production laboratory and an understanding of meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in the Cannabis and Hemp Industry is a plus
  • Familiar with California State regulations for Cannabis and Hemp (a plus)
  • Proficient with current computer systems including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Hands-on experience with organic extraction, analytical chemistry techniques, and product development
  • ISO 17025 experience
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to help train and supervise junior staff in areas of expertise
