Our client, a leading multi-state operator and vertically integrated cannabis company, is seeking a Lead Grower to join their cultivation team near Orlando, Florida.

The Lead Grower will report to the Director of Cultivation and will oversee a team fully responsible for all stages of the cannabis plant growth. This individual will provide horticulture and pest management expertise while abiding by laws, rules, policies, procedures and operational guidelines, andwill be expected to meet a standard of quality with finished product set by the management team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overseeing flower rooms and maintaining plant health through daily check-ins, evaluation of plant health, canopy management, and making adjustments to room environment or grow process with input from the Cultivation manager.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels daily according to company standards and make adjustments as needed.
  • Support other grow team members throughout the grow as needed, including spraying for pest management, supporting colleagues in other grow rooms, or supporting outside of grow rooms.
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation system including nutrient mixing, monitoring of nutrient EC, pH, and temperature, and adjusting auto irrigation cycle.
  • Daily responsibilities include plant work, and specifically (but not exclusively) big leaf and bottom stripping in flower rooms, training staff, pest and disease identification, problem-solving issues, ensure disinfecting of flower/vegetative rooms, optimizing the crop for yield and quality, and general cleaning.
  • Weekly responsibilities include inventory checks, plant health assessments, organizing plant transitions, checking drippers, spot cleaning, applying predatory insects, planting, watering, and plant maintenance.
  • Timely completion of work per schedule and strive to increase productivity through coordinated workflow and process improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure accurate plant inventory including strain names per tray and count of plants.
  • Keep documented logs and notes of room metrics and plant care actions for company records.
  • Analyze data of current and past harvest cycles to continuously improve our grow processes and standards.
  • Maintain clean grow rooms and workspaces at all times by regularly sanitizing tools, equipment, and grow rooms to ensure sanitary practices and to keep pests away
  • Create a positive safety culture ensuring safety of our employees and visitors at all times. This includes ensuring procedures and practices are in place and are being followed
  • Focus on maintaining continuous improvement initiatives/activities within the cultivation team.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, Agricultural, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years experience in a leadership role in a cultivation environment
  • Advanced cannabis plant and genetics knowledge.
  • Active listening and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, are critical.
  • Basic understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and particularly those governing cannabis, and organizational rules, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to lead a team through action and example while maintaining a healthy work environment.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, and particularly computer equipment and software such as word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and electronic mail
  • Must pass background and drug screening

A thorough understanding of harvest, dry and curing methods<br /><br />must be demonstrated through discussion and exemplary final product. The Cultivation<br /><br />Lead will be responsible for all daily tasks, inventory, schedules and product procurement<br /><br />related to indoor production. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage<br /><br />oneself and many others is a requirement for this position.<br /><br /><b>RESPONSIBILITIES:</b><br /><ul><li>Manage the LVD Ag Indoor Cannabis Grow Facility crop from seed to flower</li></ul>through production;<br /><br /><ul><li>Oversee and ensure appropriate soil mixing and mineral balancing according to a</li></ul>prescribed formula;<br /><br /><ul><li>Analyze soil and water chemistry to achieve quality maximum outcomes;</li><li>Oversee and monitor seed germination;</li><li>Oversee and conduct pruning, trellising, watering, and harvesting functions;</li><li>Oversee employee scheduling and training;</li><li>Conduct hypothesis testing;</li><li>Perform adequate data collection related to each crop as determined by the LVD</li></ul>Ag Manager and create reports related to the same;<br /><br /><ul><li>Perform and analyze plant tissue sampling; and</li><li>Perform other duties as required by LVD Ag Manager.</li></ul><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b><br /><ul><li>4+ years’ experience growing cannabis;</li><li>Understanding of Michigan and Federal Marijuana Laws;</li><li>Valid drivers license and clean record; and</li><li>Must be able to complete daily and weekly projects with a high affinity for long</li></ul>term goal completion.<br /><br /><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</b><br /><ul><li>Experience managing a team;</li><li>Current MMJ cardholder;</li><li>Currently growing cannabis in self designed facility;</li><li>Ability to develop SOPs and bring on intellectual property (seeds/clones);</li><li>Documented production of at least 2+ lbs cured flower per 4 sqft area with</li></ul>moderate yielding varieties;<br /><br /><ul><li>Experience producing cannabis seed;</li><li>Extensive knowledge of salt free cultivation methods; and</li><li>Professional demeanor and personable.</li></ul>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work<br /><br />performed by people assigned to this classification.
