The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Accounting – North America, the Manager, Accounting will be responsible for leading the financial monthly close for various legal entities, including the day-to-day accounting tasks and monthly reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and manage the month-end close process and prepare financial statements

• Work closely with the operations team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory balances

• Review and approve various monthly reconciliations

• Analyze financial statements monthly and report on variances versus budget/prior year/forecast as required

• Work closely with the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams and ensure continuous communication and follow-up with key outstanding customers and vendors

• Lead the tax and other compliance filings

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal control requirements

• Oversee the monthly expense report process, ensuring submissions are timely, expenses are properly classified, and accounts are properly reconciled

• Other projects as assigned

Experience

• Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) strongly desired

• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or equivalent

• 5-7 years of accounting experience

• Experience in cost accounting or a manufacturing environment an asset

• Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP

• Proficiency in Excel and ERP experience required, experience with SAP or Sage a definite asset

• Experience in a public company and SOX experience ideal

• Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate and influence all levels in the organization including a broad base of finance and business partners

• Initiative and results oriented and strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Critical thinker and strong problem-solving skills

• Ability to lead, direct and manage a team

• Proficiency in planning and prioritization and ability to multi-task

• Ability to build productive relationships
