Job Description The Post-Harvest Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of post-harvest operations – from the moment plants are harvested until the delivery of goods sold – as well as personnel management and communication.
The Post-Harvest Manager must have knowledge of post-harvest cannabis care and must adhere to the policies and procedures of Galenas, while ensuring compliance with all state and local laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Track team and individual performance, including setting KPI’s, communicating results with management and staff, and adjusting operations according to data and business needs Host daily and weekly team meetings to review performance, discuss areas of improvement, and explain upcoming goals Compile all post-harvest process information and update data daily Interview, hire, and train new associates while developing current team members to improve their leadership and performance capabilities Complete reviews as directed for each team member, including suggesting pay and position movements Perform all aspects of disciplinary action, up to and including termination Schedule staff according to business needs, adjusting when necessary Ability to learn, operate, and maintain in good working condition all technical equipment and machinery Ensure product is correctly dried, prepped, tested, and packaged according to Galenas standards before being approved to be sold to customers Understand local and state regulations as they relate to post-harvest team, processes, and products Validate testing for all products to be sold Update sales menu as needed to verify and track inventory, including approving sold goods and adjusting menu to dictate remaining product available for sale Inventory of all goods to confirm sales menu accuracy Clean, organize, and maintain all areas of the post-harvest process including Dry Room, Packaging Room, Trimming Room, Twister Room, etc.
Lead post-harvest team through all product processes including – but not limited to – training and follow-up on bucking, trimming, weighing, packaging, transport, storage, delivery, etc.
Use of computer and METRC software to communicate with State, track inventory, and move product through life cycle until point-of-sale transfer Move, organize, and file products throughout lifecycle of tag, including flower to shake to trim, etc.
Compile bulk material for processing at the discretion of the Director of Sales and/or the General Manager Create delivery schedule and coordination of when/where/who to ensure products are delivered in a timely manner Communicate with necessary third parties – such as secure transporters, processors, retail managers, etc.
– to efficiently manage logistics Create retail and processing labels for shipments and consumer information Work with HR, Sales, Cultivation, Marketing, and other departments as needed to ensure team has necessary equipment, direction, tasks, and goals Attend management training and meetings as needed, communicating, and implementing, necessary topics/processes to team Skills Proven ability in post-harvest tasks, including (but not limited to): drying, bucking, hand-trimming, machine-trimming, quality-control, packaging, cleaning, sanitizing, and waste disposal Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to use computer-related technology such as METRC Inventory Tracking Software, Zebra Label Maker, Microsoft Office, etc.
Initiative to learn and train others on post-harvest techniques Successful at conflict resolution while working with a cross-functional team, demonstrating collaborative abilities Experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Supervisory role or 5 years’ experience in a Lead role Work in farming/agriculture/nursery Cannabis industry experience preferred Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background check Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed Must work as a collaborator with a positive attitude Ability to communicate clearly and accurately Willingness to perform repetitive tasks, day in and day out Ability to lift, push, and pull fifty pounds Ability to sit, squat, stand, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout the workday Wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) - such as hairnets, facemasks, etc.
