Summary: The Security Officer monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of staff, vendors, contractors, visitors, and any other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. The successful candidate will possess a clean background check, attention to detail, and the willingness to assists with other duties as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following Other duties may be assigned.

Operational Duties

• Examine and verify identification of persons wishing to access the facility

• Circulate among visitors and/or employees to preserve order and protect property

• Ensure that all inventory and supplies are properly monitored at all times

• Document the time of arrival and departure for all visitors including, vendors and contractors

• Distribute identification badges to all non-employee visitors and collect at the end of the visit

• Monitor and review security cameras

• Transfer security footage to thumb drive and maintain drives orderly and in a secure location

• In the event of emergency, secure staff, visitors, and building; act as liaison with local police or law enforcement

• Maintain daily written or electronic tracking sheets, noting all activity on premises

• Escort staff members or others between vehicles and building as requested

Administrative Duties

• Maintains daily records of all visitors and guests

• Document any incidents, accidents, and report them to the Security and Logistics Manager

Basic Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Associate degree or higher, criminal justice background or related field (preferred)

Work Experience Required

• Minimum 4 years of experience in security, law enforcement or related field

• Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept additional projects or challenges

Additional Qualifications:

Required Knowledge

• Knowledge of computer and office equipment and programs (inventory systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)

• Ability to follow specific directions and instructions

• Excellent time-management skills; ability to effectively plan and prioritize

• Skill in managing physical resources (inventories, equipment, materials)

Physical Requirements

• Extended time sitting, walking, bending, and reaching

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for a distance of 100 feet

• Close visual focus required

• This position occasionally requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects

• Must pass a background check (state mandated
