Job Title: Product Innovation Specialist

Location: Calgary, AB/Hybrid

Department: Sales and Marketing

Reports to: Chief Product Innovation & Marketing

Key Relationships: Sales, Marketing, and Operations Teams

Role Purpose/ Summary:

As the Product Innovation Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and executing upon senior leaderships defined product roadmaps.

Decibel is uncompromising in the process and craftsmanship needed to deliver the highest quality cannabis products and retail experiences. Decibel has three production houses operating or under development along with its wholly owned retail business, Prairie Records. The Qwest Estate in Creston, BC is a licensed and operating 26,000 square foot cultivation space which produces the widely championed, rare cultivar-focused brands Qwest and Qwest Reserve, which are sold in six provinces across Canada. Thunderchild Cultivation, an 80,000 square foot indoor cultivation facility in Battleford, SK is scheduled to be completed and licensed in 2020. The Plant, Decibel’s extraction facility, in Calgary, AB has 15,000 square feet of Health Canada licensed extraction and product development space. Key responsibilities:

• Act as a thought leader and domain expert to develop innovative multi-year line strategies across multiple categories

• Leverage data analytics, trends, and consumer insights to inform and prioritize short and long term category opportunities

• Establish category performance benchmarks

• Responsible for managing the overall category margin and pricing strategy to ensure company benchmarks are met and exceeded

• Exceptionally resourceful and entrepreneurial with a strong desire to win

• Follow good management techniques to develop requirements and standards for projects

• Manage Stage gate process and ensure key deliverables and timelines are achieved

• Help foster trusting relationships with business partners

• Track KPIs and report on monthly category performance

• Familiarity with SAGE (ERP) &/Or has worked in ERP programs

• Manage Product listing process with various boards/retailers

• A bachelor’s degree in science and/or business is required

• 2-5 years of experience in product development

• 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced world of consumer brands is required

• Consumer packaged goods experience is desired

• Understanding and experience in development and manufacturing of cannabis products is preferred

Key competencies:

• Experience with MS Office Suite products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and more) Is required

• Detail orientated

• Takes initiative and ability to manage projects through from start to finish

• Strong communicator and writer

• Desire to learn and work hard!
