Our team is searching for a dynamic professional to join our Coast team (Comox) in the role of Cultivation Technician! As a Cultivation Technician, you will…
• Work with the Greenhouse Manager and Cultivation Supervisor to plan and organize cultivation and operations activities at Aurora Coast
• Assist with cultivation tasks such as cloning, seeding, transplanting, pruning, and harvesting
• Participate in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) activities to ensure plant health
• Assist with cleaning and sterilizing greenhouse rooms and equipment using industrial cleaners and disinfectants
• Work with computerized maintenance systems to track servicing and maintenance needs
• Comply with company safety, regulatory standards and workplace standards
• Contribute to team efforts to ensure a safe, efficient, and cooperative work environment
As an experienced professional you will have…
• Practical experience with plant cultivation, horticulture, and related plant care tasks; formal horticulture or related training is an asset but not required
• Familiarity plant health and IPM practices are an asset
• Basic knowledge of the life cycle of cannabis, but cannabis industry experience is not a pre-requisite
• Comfortable with basic use of Microsoft office tools such as Excel and Word
• Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines
• Certifications in first aid or equipment (scissor lift) use are considered an asset
Some working conditions required in the job you may need to know
• Physical effort is required: lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 22 kgs
• Work environment temperatures range from 20 to 32 degrees Celsius, and 50 to 85% humidity
• Repetitive use of hands, wrists and forearms for tasks such as pruning
• Preparation and application of pesticides licensed for use on cannabis and industrial cleaners
• This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure
