Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We’re searching for an ambitious professional (like you) to join our team in the role of Research Technician (Pathology) at our Comox BC facility. In this role, you will play a key role in our breeding program that will be located at a state-of-the-art research greenhouse in Comox BC while reporting to our Lead Scientist, Pathology. You will be involved in research projects both in the greenhouse and lab and will assist with numerous ongoing breeding projects. From plant and pathogen propagation to data collection to molecular to biochemical analysis; you will support all aspects of the genetic improvement of cannabis within our team. Sound exciting? As the Research Technician, you will…

• Carry out research experiments pertaining to plant pathology in coordination with the Science and Innovation Team

• Support the daily operations of plant breeding and pathology experiments

• Maintain and monitor pathogen isolates

• Sample leaf and flower tissue and coordinate testing

• Monitor for plant diseases, pests, and health issues

• Collect data and notes and record into databases

• Inoculate plants, use aseptic techniques, and maintain sterile workspaces

• Analyze data and compile research reports

• Comply with safety and other regulatory standards

• Organize plant cultivation supplies, including washing of equipment and contribute to overall organization and tidiness

To be successful in this role, you will have…

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Agronomy, Genetics, or a related discipline or equivalent

• General understanding of plant and pathogen life cycles, plant health and care and experience with experimental design and execution (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
