Propagation Technician Grimsby, ON | Full-time
Schedule: Wednesday to Saturday (6AM-4:30PM)
The Propagation Technician, under the direction of the Supervisor, Propagation, is primarily responsible for the day-to-day production and plant maintenance of cannabis. This position will cultivate and maintain young cannabis plants and mother stalks while adhering to standard operating procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for taking care of cuttings, veg plants and mother plants
• Understand and apply plant propagation and cultivation principles and practices
• Monitoring, assessing, recording, and acting according to individual crop needs
• Transplant plants throughout the growth and production process
• Detect, report, and control any plant health concerns or pest issues
• Adhere to growing schedules and report deviations from established procedures to supervisor
• Clean and sanitize work area as required
• Perform data entry and complete records
• Operate potting equipment safely per standard operating procedures
• Monitor cultivation area, including temperature and humidity levels
• Comply with all relevant legislation surrounding cannabis production under the Cannabis Act.
• Adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations
• Other duties as assigned
ROLE REQUIREMENTS/ABILITIES
Experience / Education
• High school diploma/GED
• Cannabis or greenhouse industry experience would be considered an asset
Skills & Abilities
• Strong written & verbal communication skills with ability to comprehend detailed instructions
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
• Demonstrated time management skills
• Knowledge of cannabis plant composition is an asset
• High level of integrity and work ethic
• Must have own transportation as we are not on a public transportation route

Working Conditions
• Constant exposure to the smell of cannabis
• Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Using manual dexterity repetitively
• Extended periods of stooping, bending, kneeling, standing, and walking
• Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 10 kilograms
• Working in an environment subject to frequent temperature changes
• Overtime as required
