Job Summary :
The Analytical Chemist will complete tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Manager for the internal testing of cannabis products in compliance with state regulations. The successful employee will be detail oriented and able to follow established SOPs to ensure product integrity and quality control in a highly regulated environment.
Set up, Run, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, and ICPMS
Testing and Analysis of cannabis products for pesticides, mycotoxins, cannabinoids, terpenes, residual solvents, heavy metals, microbial contaminants, and moisture according to the state of New York Medical Marijuana Regulations
Ensure high quality standards are met through performing frequent calibrations and quality checks
Follow SOPs and lab safety procedures
Work with vendors, contactors, employees and perform hands on tasks as required to set up instrumentation
Works independently with little guidance, and within a collaborative group environment
Perform other tasks, duties and training as dictated by their supervisor.
May help in other departments as needed/Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field is preferred
Preferred Experience in a regulated laboratory setting is preferred
Computer & equipment operations necessary for laboratory analysis (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, and ICPMS as well as analytical balance, automated pipettes, centrifuge, Lab Solutions, word, and excel)
Familiar with Shimadzu instruments and software is preferred but not required
Experience with automated liquid handling systems
Experience with developing methods and SOPs
Thorough understanding of New York State law governing medical marijuana and Good Manufacturing Practices (preferred)
The job is performed indoors in a traditional laboratory setting. Exposure to chemicals and laboratory agents is expected. Protective safety clothing, goggles, gloves, facemasks, or hat are required as needed.
Activities include extended periods of sitting or standing and extensive work using laboratory equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Overtime and weekend work is occasionally expected.
Has a Bachelor of Science or Masters in a Science field preferably Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemistry.
At least 2 years of related work experience in analytical Lab
Experience in cannabis potency testing methods (preferably).
