Full-Time Outdoor Cannabis Harvest Labor (Seasonal)

We are hiring for this seasonal position from April-October 2022


Seasonal outdoor harvest laborers will report directly to the Senior Cultivator. This job will largely consist of farming and landscaping, and will support all aspects of grow operations from planting to harvesting (including clean-up). The job will include assisting with the growth process of planting, watering and maintaining plants, as well as cutting plants, de-leafing/trimming, and shucking (dry and wet) cannabis plants. The harvest laborer should have the ability to perform intensive manual labor, stand for long periods of time, and carry out repetitive tasks during summer weather conditions. The seasonal job may also require laborers to hang, package, weigh, burp and cure bud, as well as subsequent field organization and clean up following the harvest season. Additionally, the harvest laborer must be capable of using product tracking software to remain in compliance with state issued standards. The harvest laborer should have a positive attitude and ability to work well with a team.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Cultivator to plan for growing activities that are consistent with planned production schedules.
  • Prepare grow space for planting and ensure that all spaces are clean and free of fungi, mildew, mold and various pests.
  • Prepare grow areas including; transporting grow pots to growing areas, filling grow pots with soil, transplanting plants into grow pots, setting up irrigation lines, watering and feeding plants, and labeling plants.
  • Monitor growing conditions and reviews changes in humidity, moisture and temperature as well as cultivation procedures to ensure conformance with quality control standards.
  • Inspects crop features such as leaf texture, coloration, bloom size and for the existence of pests or disease
  • Work with IPM manager to execute pest and disease control
  • Work with inventory manager for inventory data input
  • Cloning: cutting clones from mother stock, rooting clones in nursery, monitoring and maintaining clones to vegetative stages of plant growth
  • Harvesting: cutting plants; trimming plants; removing flowering tops; weighing and inventory data input into the electronic inventory tracking system.
  • Curing: hanging and dry-racking flower; monitoring curing process and climate control; labeling; weighing, and inventory data input.
  • Operate and maintain cultivation systems/equipment: monitor, calibrate, run and maintain lighting, irrigation, climate control and other cultivation systems; stock and handle production input and supplies; sanitize and clean growing areas, cultivation workspaces, and tools
  • Ensure daily compliance with policies and procedures including but not limited to state compliance, security protocols, and access protocols
  • Any other tasks assigned by Management.


Physical Requirements of the Job: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 25 pounds, may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching as well as repetitive motions. Moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Must be able to safely operate farming machinery such as farm vehicles, trimming fans and handheld trimmers, as well as maintenance equipment such as weed whackers, hoes, etc.

Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations. There will be no drugs or alcohol on or consumed on The Human Connection or any of their client’s property. Intoxication or the act of consuming drugs or alcohol is prohibited before and during your working shift.

Within the facility the employee will use gardening tools, snips, pruners, chemicals, liquid nitrogen, grinders, presses, extraction equipment, ladders, and step stools. The facility is temperature controlled as temperature will be as low as 50 degrees and high as 100 degrees. Employee will be subjected to UV lighting and will required to wear eye protection. Employee will be required to wear facemask and arm sleeves for additional protection. The office setting of this position uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.</p><p><b>Physical Demands</b></p><p>Must be able to lift items up to 50lbs individually. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time. Must be able to work in a manufacturing, or production facilities with moderate to loud noise levels, and changing working conditions. Will require the use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.</p><p><b>Position Type/Expected Hours of Work</b></p><p>This is an hourly position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm. Varying schedules and flexibility is required for this position. Evaluate cultivation needs and supplies inventory. Work with the purchasing department on inventory replenishment of BOM needs.</p><p>• Monitor gardens and plant collections for pests and diseases.
