Mernova is seeking a Human Resources Generalist who can develop effective relationships, provide a professional HR service to the business, and oversee all aspects of Human Resources practices, programs, and processes. The successful candidate will provide leadership, support, and advice in a range of human resources areas including policies, procedures, job evaluation, and organizational and professional development. The Specialist, Human Resources conducts research and provides advice and recommendations with respect to policies and procedures. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). This role reports to the Managing Director and is accountable to the Creso Pharma Board of Directors. ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Generalist Job Duties: Bridge management and employee relations by addressing challenges or other issues. Initiate and complete Employment Contracts. Update company organizational chart upon new hires or promotions. Conduct on-boarding and orientation sessions for all new employees. Complete Business Cases with ROI for employee raises, promotions, and new hires. Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital. Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization. Nurture a positive working environment. Manage bonus entitlements based on meeting company objectives and goals. Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs. Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management. Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions. Maintain organization staff by establishing a recruiting, and interviewing program; conducting and analysing exit interviews; recommending changes. Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs. Maintain a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions. Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and addressing employee concerns; advising employees and supervisors. Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures. Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records. QualificationsDegree in Human Resources or related field. 5 years proven working experience in a multifunctional HR role. Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company. In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices. People oriented and results driven. You will work with the internal team to assess privacy risks and provide recommendations on how to mitigate.</div><div></div><div><b><br />About Your Day</b></div><div></div><ul><li><br />Administer the OCS’s FOI program in accordance with established FOI best practices by responding to requests for information within legislated timelines and facilitating transparency and accountability in compliance with legislated and other legal requirements.</li><li>Review new requests and identify the requirements for responding, including determining timelines for response, fee estimates, time extensions and/or third-party consultations.</li><li>Draft appropriate notices to requesters and third parties</li><li>Coordinate the retrieval of responsive records, working closely with and guiding affected business areas to ensure a reasonable, timely search is conducted.</li><li>Liaise with requesters, affected third parties and business areas to support the FOI process, as required.</li><li>Identify exceptions and/or exemptions in accordance with FIPPA, Information Privacy Commissioner/Ontario (IPC) orders, judicial decisions, and guidelines of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services Access and Privacy Strategy and Policy Unit and submit for review.</li><li>Collaborate with other areas within the division and throughout the organization, to enable compliance with access and research regulatory requirements and the delivery of business outcomes.</li><li>Assist and act as back-up to the Senior Privacy Advisor in providing guidance on all privacy matters.</li><li>Assist with the review of initiatives that use technologies which collect, use, retain or disclose personal information using Privacy by Design principles and privacy best practices.</li><li>Conducting formal privacy risk assessments and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) of new technology implementations to facilitate compliance with privacy and access requirements and making appropriate recommendations to leadership.</li><li>Assist with the investigation and resolution of privacy complaints and breaches and work with internal and external stakeholders to contain, investigate, notify, resolve and work on preventative measures.</li></ul><div></div><div><b>About You</b></div><div></div><ul><li>Completed Post-Secondary degree/diploma in political science, Public Administration/ Policy, Law or related field of study</li><li>5+ years of experience in working in a government or public sector regulated industry and application of privacy law</li><li>Completion of Information Privacy Professional certification or similar related certification would be seen as an asset</li><li>Knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and FOI related legislation regulations, principles, philosophy, guidelines, directive, procedures and decisions</li><li>Strong research skills to identify and apply relevant FOI legislation to guide internal stakeholders in the right direction</li><li>Experience preparing briefing notes, issuing papers, guidelines and policies</li><li>Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills</li><li>Excellent coordination and organization skills</li></ul><div></div><div><b><br />About the Job</b></div><div></div><div><b>City:</b> Toronto, ON</div><div><b>Employment Type:</b> Contract Full Time – 1 Year</div><div><b>Required Travel:</b> Rare, within GTA</div><div><b>Application Deadline:</b> Tuesday August 3, 2021 at 11:59pm</div><div></div><div><br />We are committed to providing an accessible, equitable and inclusive candidate and employee experience.
