Human Resources Specialist

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the HR Specialist serves as the primary HR point of contact for the Company and supports management with addressing employee relations, licensing, payroll, and benefits questions and concerns. This person is responsible for communicating policy changes initiated by the Company’s Management Team. The HR Specialist handles all routine HR paperwork related to recruitment, onboarding, investigations, and terminations, and submits reports to Management, as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports management team by assisting with interview process, including initial prescreening interviews; onboards and schedules new hires, including completing background checks and ensuring completion of all new hire paperwork
  • Processes all employee background review and licensing paperwork
  • Meets with each new hire to review company-wide policies and coordinates with Department managers for Department–specific training
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal training requirements
  • Maintains paper and digital personnel files documenting training, promotions, changes in staff position, corrective action and termination
  • Responds to employee questions and concerns in a professional, prompt manner
  • Supports management team with addressing employee relations issues such as corrective actions, complaint investigation and resolution, and policy enforcement
  • Assesses the urgency and importance of situations and takes the appropriate action; escalates issues to COO as needed
  • Supports management during termination process; completes all required paperwork
  • Processes employment status changes, including paperwork for salary increases
  • Oversees facility benefits administration including conducting open enrollment meetings, assisting with enrollment and termination paperwork, and communicating benefit changes
  • Coordinates with Management Team to develop, communicate, and enforce policy changes
  • Coordinates with CFO and payroll consultant to monitor and respond to unemployment claims
  • Files workers’ compensation claims
  • Handles confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally
  • Maintains current knowledge of state and federal cannabis and employment regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Strong executive functioning skills; ability to prioritize projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with on-line job-hiring sites
  • Sense of initiative and resourcefulness
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage time effectively; ability to prioritize tasks and readjust, as needed
