What You Will Do/Need (Job Summary):

We are seeking a qualified, career minded individual looking to maximize their abilities within the emerging and exciting cannabis industry. The ideal Director of Human Resources is a strong communicator with a keen eye for talent to help Grow Ohio attract and retain a talented, disciplined workforce. This person must have strong foundational knowledge around standard hiring practices, enforcement of company policies and procedures, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations impacting the Company.

The Director of Human Resources will partner with leaders across the organization to identify personnel needs and evaluate internal and external candidates for employment consideration, as well as assist with enhancing the development track for existing team members. This person must be able to establish a strong network in the community and develop strong relationships with professionals that have access to job candidate procurement avenues. The Director of Human Resources will focus their efforts on contingency planning across the company to ensure the organization is positioned for future success. This person will also partner with team members at the director and supervisor levels to conduct all performance reviews and provide employees with constructive feedback and handling conflict resolution. The role will report directly to the CEO, but this role will work frequently with c-level and director-level team members.

Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Hiring and Talent Acquisition

Partner with the leadership team to execute on the Company’s talent strategy to attract quality candidates. Establish job candidate vetting criteria to increase retention and skill level of candidates joining the Company. Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Assist managers in identifying staff vacancies, as well as recruiting, interviewing, and selecting applicants. Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives. Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits.

Policy and Benefits Administration

Maintain, update, and distribute Employee Handbook as required. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies, and helping resolve work-related problems. Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes. Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems, and safety and recreation programs. Prepare and follow budgets for personnel operations. Handle all OSHA responsibilities and other federal and state reporting requirements and compliance. Responsible for reporting, tracking, and communicating Workers’ Compensation claims. Administer the Company’s FMLA and personal leave programs. Lead and/or delegate matters related to Company benefits and employee programs, including but not limited to benefits election, benefits renewals, and benefits administration.

Work Performance

Assist team members with staffing performance duties, including dealing with policy violations, refereeing disputes, performing coaching and counseling documentation, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures. Responsible for documenting work-related matters appropriately and maintaining a filing system that allows for the quick identification of employee history and track record. Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labor relations, and employee relations. Represent the Company at personnel-related hearings and investigations. Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of the Company’s personnel policies and practices. Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates. Analyze training needs and design employee development, health, and safety programs.

Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resource Management or Certificate in Human Resources is preferred. 7 + years’ experience in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, and Employee Relations. Must be at least 21 years of age and be able to successfully pass a thorough internal and external background check, including criminal history check by BCI and FBI. Candidates must be able to pass a drug test and be cleared to obtain an agent badge from the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP). Able to resolve conflict, problem solve, and manage relationships with broad human resources knowledge. Exceptional customer service, sense of urgency, ownership, and attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills required to engage leadership and associates at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Strong background in social media utilization and experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required.

This is a full-time position with variable hours required. Our facility is open from 6am to 8pm, seven days a week. Candidates should be aware that this position may be required to work some weekends and evenings, depending on demand.
