Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist plays an active role in carrying out the day to day operations of the Human Resources Department to ensure a consistent, high level delivery of HR services to all staff. This position will have cross functional tasks in HRIS maintenance, recruitment, employee relations, leave administration, payroll, benefits, and various administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with development of systems, processes, and procedures to improve upon the overall operation effectiveness and efficiency of the HR Department and associated written policies and SOPs.
  • Maintains the integrity and reliability of the organization’s HRIS – identifies and recommends improvements such as training, customization and enhancements to maximize value and usability of the HRIS; engage with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff and managers regarding established Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Researches and resolves employee inquiries.
  • Maintain and organize department records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality. Ensuring compliance of all documents and administering record retention and purging of personnel files.
  • Organize and work independently on assigned task/projects and complete assignments within specified deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with HR business systems
  • Must be able to work independently to perform work assignments and make sound business decisions
  • Significant knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, HRIS, payroll, and training and development
  • General knowledge of compensation and benefits
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues in a professional manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication, comfortable with public speaking, organizational skills a must
  • Excellent computer skills; MS Office proficient
  • Solid knowledge of personnel administration principles and practices
  • Familiarity with Federal and State employment and leave laws (i.e., FLSA, HIPPA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, FEHA)
  • Ability to build and maintain very effective relationships and work successfully as an influencer across organization lines at all levels; excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work standard business hours within an office setting; occasional overtime or nights/weekends may be required
  • Must be 21 years old per state regulations and pass a criminal background check and drug screen (excludes THC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual – Spanish/English
  • Previous work experience in cannabis and/or food and agriculture industries
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to partake in prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Other physical requirements include grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 25 pounds and must be able to do so with extreme care.
