JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for supporting a cannabis retail environment with 150+ employees in a wide variety of areas such as onboarding, leave administration, benefits administration, employee relations, Workers Compensation, terminations, compliance, and special projects.

The HR Generalist will ensure that employee relation functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements and work closely with the management team in supporting and promoting policies and procedures.

10-15% of travel to Las Vegas may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Talent Management:

Work with the HR Manager in developing and implementing recruitment strategies and processes necessary to achieve organizational staffing objectives

Work with the Recruiter and Hiring Managers in finding ways to source candidates.

Review, revise, create and update job descriptions

Review and provide feedback to managers during the pre-hire process. Provide support to managers by participating in the interview process and skills assessments as requested by the hiring manager

Benefits Management:

Manage the routine functions and administration of employee leaves of absence process. Maintain communication with the employees and the department managers throughout the leave process

Manage all ADA accommodation requests, following up with related documentation as needed, and serving as an information source for the employee

Assist with the open enrollment process and ensure benefit enrollments and terminations are processed timely

Employee Relations and HR

Policy Administration:

Effectively support 450+ employees located throughout Nevada

Actively participate in developing new programs or tools for the growth and development of the department

Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed

Work closely with the HR Manager in leading change control, organizational change, process documentation, and training efforts and as a supporting role in cross-functional projects

Assist the HR Manager in updating policies and employee handbooks

Assist the HR Manager in handling employee relations counseling to employees in various HR-related topics and resolve issues and conflicts

Provide support and guidance to the HR Assistant and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise

Participate in audits, compliance reporting, and other employee-related inquiries

Other:

Manage the maintenance of the HR systems. Create/prepare reports and analysis using the HRIS, and other software, as required

Prepare management reports and make recommendations on a variety of human resources issues to ensure organizational development and regulatory compliance

Assist in the preparation of standard government reports required by the state, federal, and local agencies

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Strong retail store experience is highly preferred

Bachelor's Degree in HR Management or related field preferred. HR Certification is Preferred

A minimum of 4 years of increasingly responsible experience as an HR Assistant or HR Generalist is required

At least 2 years of current experience in managing leaves of absence and leave integration with Federal, State, and local ordinances

Strong project management and follow-through skills; ability to organize and drive the completion of multiple projects.

Ability to tailor communication approach to specific situations and audiences

Ability to identify and resolve problems with solid business and accurate judgment

Proven ability to work independently and make sound judgments on a day-to-day basis regarding assigned and ad hoc duties with very limited direction from the Human Resources Manager

Experience in supporting and coaching HR Assistants or Associates preferred

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations

Exceptional integrity. Trustworthy, credible, unbiased, and willing to share information and serve as a mentor

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, HRIS (Kronos Experience preferred), TEAMS, Canva, etc.

Collaborative and have a confident and assured attitude

Must stay current and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Cannabis Compliance Board and company policies in the areas he/she operates.

Must be able to secure Arizona Dispensary Agent Card Registration with the Arizona Cannabis Compliance Board

Must be 21 years of age or older and be able to pass an extensive background check.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand on feet or sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to see, hear, speak and write English clearly in order to communicate effectively with employees, visitors and regulators.

Fine visual acuity with the ability to adjust focus to inspect closely

Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities or structures.

Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to meet job and operate equipment requirements

Requires normal range of hearing with the ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.

Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicles, and the like within the region and to other locations as required
