Quick Apply Full-time 15 hours ago Full Job Description Job Title: Head Grower Reports to: Vice President of Breeding and Cultivation Effective Date: February 1st, 2022 Job Summary: The primary role of the Head Grower is to oversee all cultivation operations for CI Farms, LLC and CI Wellness, LLC. The Head Grower leads and develops the section managers, supervisors, and teams. The role encompasses all aspects of cultivation from horticultural science to integrated pest management to pesticide application to research and development. The Head Grower's main responsibilities are to walk and inspect crops, oversee all horticultural decisions, train all staff and supervisors, and prioritize daily tasks. This position works closely with the Director of Cultivation Operations to make sure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and with the Claybourne Co.'s standards of quality. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures the crop environment and cultural needs are met for superior quality yield, and timing. Directs workflow with Director of Cultivation Operations to Section Growers. Manage all aspects of Cannabis crops, such as propagation, transplanting, fertility, irrigation, plant quality and standard size, harvest, drying and curing, and crop timing. Create and execute SOPs for all of the above. Troubleshoot crop health, fertility, and pest management as they arise during regular crop production. Oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program that uses biological and conventional methods. Oversee, edit, and improve all aspects of plant management practices. Pinching, thinning, skirting, training, etc. creating optimal maintenance schedules. Assure compliance with local, state, and federal licensing requirements Inspect and create accurate data entry in inventory tracking systems Maintain climate control software and adjust to provide an optimum environment for all crops. Ensure completion of weekly EC/pH testing of soil and conduct regular nutritional tissue testing. Lead daily Section Grower meeting and weekly training. Assist and lead all cultivation and genetics trials. Maintain all cultivation supplies, including, fertility, plastics, soil, beneficial insects, etc. Walk regularly with the Head Grower to discuss crop culture and plans. Other duties as assigned Experience: Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agriculture, or related field preferred Supervisory experience. Current valid California pesticide applicator license. Experience in cultivation using vertical racking systems and LED lighting. Proven experience in overseeing aspects of professional production environments including equipment handling, production, operations, processing, and execution. Knowledge of growing methods including micronutrients, beneficial bacteria, mycorrhizae, and nutrient implementation, pH and soil. Identification of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options Cannabis growing experience preferred, not required Additional Requirements: Must pass all required background checks Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the Cannabis industry Must possess valid driver's license Must be a minimum of 21 years of age Will be required to be on-call and to respond to emergency situations at any time. This may include scheduling issues, potentially covering a vacant shift, facility issues and/ or human resources requirements. Qualifications: Computer and Microsoft Office skills. Bilingual (English and some Spanish) preferred. Ability to work longer hours during busy season (Weekends included). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Positive attitude and work ethic. Strong leadership, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced working environment. Maintain worker protection standards, promoting a safe work environment. Effective time management with the ability to balance floor and office time. Working Conditions: The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. Frequently works in rooms with bright light where eye protection is needed. Frequently works in rooms with moderate heat and humidity. The person in this position is constantly exposed to moderate background noise due to environmental systems, equipment, and fans. Physical Demands: Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and lift up to 50 pounds Continuously walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
