Inventory & Procurement Specialist

Located in the beautiful Kootenay Valley, Dycar Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (“Dycar”) is a licensed producer of cannabis under the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations of Canada and is focused on the cultivation and processing of cannabis and the manufacturing of derivative products.

Reporting to the General Manager, and in close partnership with the Finance team, the Inventory & Procurement Specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing operations inventory control strategies and managing the procurement of operations goods and services to the company. This position is located in Cranbrook, BC.

Responsibilities

Inventory Control

· Act as “inventory gatekeeper” for both regulated (cannabis and cannabis-derivative) and non-regulated inventory

· Input and maintain inventory data in the inventory system, proactively and accurately, monitor and record inventory transactions, and provide timely inventory count reports as requested

· Collaborate with Shipping & Receiving to log incoming inventory and returned product, as well as log outgoing orders against inventory

· Partner with the Finance team on reconciling inventory counts to the general ledger on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

· Overseeing weekly, monthly and annual physical inventory counts

· Maintain inventory areas by organizing and documenting efficient material handling and storage

· Anticipate secured storage constraints proactively by partnering with department leads and monitoring levels with cycle counts

· Audit, investigate, identify, and reconcile inventory discrepancies (shortages and overages) and report on variances in a timely manner

· Partner with Quality Assurance on maintaining policies and procedures related to inventory control

· Work in tandem across operations departments and maintain a collaborative approach to achieve organizational goals

· Prioritize safety, integrity, and quality in daily initiatives

· Ensure inventory compliance with Health Canada regulations and maintain awareness of current/evolving Cannabis Act and Regulations

Procurement

· Provide purchasing services to internal customers by developing and maintaining clear communication and effective partnerships

· Utilize inventory spreadsheets and Ample to determine appropriate quantity and timing of deliveries; proactively address external inventory shortages

· Promptly handle requests to ensure stable supply and timely availability of materials

· Ensure that all purchased materials and services meet established quality levels and pre-determined specifications and requirements

· Recommend new suppliers based on quality, service, and competitive pricing

· Coordinate return/cancellation of purchase orders

Core Competencies

· Adept at managing and analyzing large volumes of data in Microsoft Excel or an ERP; prior experience maintaining data in Ample Organics software or similar is a strong asset

· Able to collaborate effectively with internal customers and external vendors

· Ability to adhere to a best-practices approach and keep all required documentation updated and available to cross-functional team members

· Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills

· Self-starter with the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work in fast-paced, team environment

· Excellent problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

· 3-5 years experience in an inventory, purchasing or supply-chain environment

· Applicable experience may include cannabis LP, construction, manufacturing, mining and/or other Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)

· Suitable candidates will have a high school diploma. Post-secondary courses in finance, accounting, supply chain or business may be an asset.

· Ability to obtain Health Canada Security Clearance is an asset. Preference may be given to candidates with active SCI status.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for an 8-hour shift period, including but not limited to: standing, walking, lifting (up to 20 kgs) and sitting (computing) for prolonged periods
  • Ability to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to safety eyewear, hair nets, nitrile gloves, face masks etc. as required when working in certain areas of our facility
  • Ability to work in an environment that uses cleaning products including, but not limited to, Clean Green and Isopropyl Alcohol
  • This position may involve some exposure to cannabis/plant materials and is therefore not likely suitable for anyone that may suffer from allergies to cannabis or plant pollen, or for anyone that experiences medical issues such as asthma and hay fever as a result of exposure to cannabis/plant materials
