The Retail Store Manager is responsible for the daily operations and profitability of the establishment according to set goals and business objectives. Daily operations include staff management, customer satisfaction, neat product presentation, inventory management and carrying out seasonal changes and promotional activities.


Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct to other staff.
  • Make sure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and security regulations are adhered to and required standards are met.
  • Maintain adequate stock through efficient inventory management.
  • Take inventory as scheduled and provide inventory reports.
  • Increase sales, expand markets, and promote business to meet given goals within provided guidelines.
  • Verify invoices against packaging slips and track all expenditures.
  • Make sure that merchandise is always presented neatly and that items are priced correctly.
  • Make sound business decisions when buying large quantities with volume based discounts.
  • Provide management with required sales, staff and other assigned productivity reports.
  • Hold staff accountable for cash box deficits.
  • Balance sales, print and record receipts as well as track revenue daily.
  • Make bank deposits daily and reconcile bank statements.
  • Contribute, coordinate and execute the process of ordering and receiving cannabis and accessories
  • Supervise all staff in the establishment and coordinate work to ensure productive operations at all hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school and College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
  • Valid QCW/Sell Safe certification is mandatory to work in a Cannabis store in Alberta.
  • Minimum of 5 year work experience in a supervisory role in a retail environment.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Skills to monitor and assess staff performance.
  • Basic office administration skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite Highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive.
  • Able to plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion.
  • Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to sales software quickly.

Join us!</p><p><b>SUMMARY</b></p><p>The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the current location and will assist in the build-out of a new location(s). The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is expected to create and sustain a welcoming culture to ensure a superior retail experience for every customer and an empowering work environment.</p><p>The candidate must be well-versed in making data-driven decisions, have a track record of leveraging key performance indicators (KPIs) to manage the store proactively, and ensure operational standards are consistently met or exceeded.</p><p>The Assistant General Manager partners with staff and on occasion external businesses to fulfill all retail operations, including, but not limited to, customer experience, inventory control, store appearance, displays, staff training and development, special projects, and ad hoc analyses as requested and required.</p><p>The Assistant General Manager may manage and supervise up to 25 employees by location. The position reports to the General Manager.</p><p><b>RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p>Maintain the highest level of customer service experience and overall store condition (including visual merchandising standards).</p><p>Ensure customer satisfaction through providing a best-in-class customer service experience.</p><p>Oversee the training, supervision, and evaluation of employees.</p><p>Support the General Manager in the development and implementation of operational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance the Company’s mission, goals, and objectives.</p><p>Work with the General Manager to establish action plans to meet sales, service, and profit goals and lead team members to achieve them.</p><p>Ensure compliance with state, county, and local cannabis ordinances.</p><p>Provide education for team members and customers regarding cannabis products.</p><p>Conduct annual performance reviews and generate development plans for select employees.</p><p>Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of the dispensary provisioning center and team while inspiring the staff to deliver stellar customer service, including reinforcement of a proactive and consultative selling culture.</p><p>Ensure cash management policies and procedures are followed.</p><p>Manage product inventory and controls.</p><p>Maintain in-depth knowledge of cannabis products and strains, as well as an industry-wide product knowledge.</p><p>Fulfill staffing needs and coordinate scheduling.</p><p>Serve as a liaison to the local community during events and as required.</p><p>Represent benchmark behavior, performance and leadership.</p><p>Disclaimer – This job description does not cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this role. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change based on business needs.</p><p>Required Skills</p><p><b>JOB REQUIREMENTS</b></p><p>5+ years of management experience (preferably in retail management).</p><p>2+ years of cannabis-related experience (preferably in retail).</p><p>Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred). High school diploma required.</p><p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</p><p>Demonstrate practical and proactive thinking.</p><p>Maintain an organized workplace and an attention to detail.</p><p>Prior experience with cannabis systems such as Metrc (preferred).</p><p>Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 30 pounds (100 pounds with assistance).
