Lab Technician Job Description

Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Employee may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. Reasonable accommodations, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, will be made when possible.

This position will report directly to the Lab Manager and Director of Extraction

Lab Technician Job Responsibilities -

  • Make Metrc Tags for RM (raw material), EO (essential oil) and RE (raw extract)
  • Maintain daily extraction run white board run schedule with Lab Manager
  • Weigh incoming RM into labeled totes for runs
  • Wash dirty totes once a month
  • Dry RM in the oven extracting EO’s – log wet, dry and EO weights in book
  • Grind RM – weigh buckets and log in book, label buckets with required data
  • Empty extract bags weigh and label waste bags with Metrc tag, log waste time, mix waste with soil outside in yard
  • Empty the steam distillation retort and evenly fill dryer bags. Dry RM, label tote and store tote in rotation for extraction. Remove EO from separator funnel create Metrc tags. Clean boiling vat and retort between runs.
  • Log daily ethanol use in book for required rolling inventory
  • Vacuum separation of winterized solution to prep runs for Roto-vap.
  • Operation of 20L Roto-vap filling and empty boiling flask, logging ethanol recovered.
  • End of day lab glass washed in dishwasher and beginning of day put away clean lab glass.
  • Occasionally work with kitchen staff making products.
  • Occasionally fill vape cartridges with a team.
  • Daily sweep and mop grind room, around extraction system, steam distillation and lab floors.
  • Help with facility maintenance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a normal warehouse environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures. The employee's working conditions are moderately noisy. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a manufacturing setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate manufacturing equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to speak and hear; to verbally communicate to exchange information. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift up to 40 lbs or move up to 100 pounds.

The Extraction Specialist will also interface with quality procedures and with a focus on documentation and record-keeping.</p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><p>• Follow and execute proprietary extraction techniques and procedures.</p><p>• Operate extraction equipment, filtration/separation equipment, distillation systems/evaporators, crystallization reactors.</p><p>• Operate manufacturing, packaging, and labeling machinery.</p><p>• Observe, monitor, and record temperature, pressure, and other parameters on manufacturing processes and equipment.</p><p>• Establish and maintain record-keeping systems and ensure employee adherence to proper documentation practices.</p><p>• Responsible for sample preparation, reviewing Certificates of Analysis, and identifying product specifications deviations.</p><p>• Responsible for lab maintenance and sanitation.</p><p>• Working closely with the QA team to ensure QA practices are a priority in the lab and adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements are strictly followed.</p><p>• Responsible for inventory maintenance and record-keeping.</p><p>• Ensuring 100% compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product production.</p><p>• Ensures that all processing activities are carried out as per Standard Operating Procedures to produce consistent quality cannabis products.</p><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><p>• 2+ years experience in cannabis extraction.</p><p>• Diploma or degree in Sciences or a related field is an asset.</p><p>• Must have security clearance.</p><p>• Previous manufacturing or lab experience is preferred.</p><p>• Experience in botanical extractions, equipment maintenance, and basic lab practices would be an asset.</p><p>• Previous work experience with a Licensed Producer is considered an asset.</p><p>• Detail-oriented, note-taking, and record-keeping skills.</p><p>• Basic arithmetic for data collection</p></div>","company":{"companyType":"Public/Growth","name":"Cannabis Industry","logoUrl":"/logos/cannabis-industry-1bb7515d1350665b2656be73b1cd0828.jpeg"},"location":{"country":"Canada","address":"Goderich, ON","city":"Goderich","stateProvince":"ON"},"frontendLink":"/job-posting/cannabis-industry/extraction-specialist/207a7e5bbd4a2aee729ac509b45935ff","title":"Extraction Specialist","category":"Non-Profit","hash":"207a7e5bbd4a2aee729ac509b45935ff","postingUrl":"https://ca.jooble.org/jdp/3001405266860636374/Extraction-Specialist-Goderich%2C-ON"}]
