Company Overview

Pokagon Development Authority (PDA) is creating an adult-use recreational marijuana store and production facility offering a variety of adult use marijuana products in Michigan. The production facility will encompass cultivation, extraction, manufacturing/packaging and testing of cannabis and cannabis products. PDA will also source its products from Michigan’s premier producers.

Position Summary

The General Manager (GM) will participate in the operational execution of the company’s strategy by managing specific hands-on aspects of the company and assisting the Executive Management Team with the successful launch and growth of Pokagon Development Authority’s vertically integrated cannabis enterprise in a rapidly changing environment. The GM provides the project management skills necessary to ensure the PDA has the proper operational controls, and people systems in place to effectively launch the business and grow the organization and to ensure operating efficiency. The GM is responsible for delivering day-to- day results. The GM will work closely with the consulting firm that is heading the project on behalf of PDA.

This position collaborates internally with employees and management and all stakeholders to promote success in achieving their goals within the organization, consistent with the organization's vision and consistent with the direction of the Executive Management Team. To succeed, the General Manager must be: Passionate, Informed, Approachable, Energetic, and a Leader.

Essential Functions

• Work with the PDA and Executive Management Team to develop strategies for implementing a vertically integrated cannabis operation, under the guidance of the consulting team.

• Participate in project planning, including but not limited to branding, marketing strategy, budgeting, construction oversight, equipment selection and procurement, system installations, SOP development, and more. All tasks involved with becoming operational.

• Implement various operational, marketing and management strategies while maintaining budgetary guidelines.

• Work with team, overseeing various aspects of architecture design and general construction. Meet with various vendors/contractors/etc. to ensure all work is being completed accurately and in a timely manner.

• Assess critical needs of project, develop plans to address critical needs, and implement plans strategically.

• Travel locally to ensure construction and project deliverables are accomplished.

• Travel locally and nationally, as needed, to represent the Pokagon Band at conferences, meetings, and possibly engage in public speaking.

• Ensure swift execution of the development of the enterprise as a whole, including the cannabis production facility and retail facilities.

• Provide strategic leadership and consultation to Tribal Leadership Staff in all areas of the cannabis enterprise project management.

Management

• Creates annual operating plans with management team that support the strategic vision for the company and correlate to available budget. Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities; presenting findings; recommending objectives

• Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid‐course corrections

• Collaborates with the Executive management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives; sets operational performance benchmarks. Conducts periodic reviews of operational performance; reports to the management

• Provides day‐to‐day management to operations that mirrors the mission and values of the company

• Motivates and leads a high performance management team; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to management career development

• Fosters a success‐oriented, flexible and accountable environment within the company

Finance

• In conjunction with the Board, develops annual budgets that support operating plans

• In collaboration with Controller, prudently manages operating resources within budget guidelines and regulatory frameworks to maximize productivity

• Oversees operations management and ensures company is compliant with all regulatory and safety requirements.

Operations

• Oversees store and production operations through Operations Managers

• Manages all sales channels whether brick and mortar or online, personnel, systems and budgets related to the sales of cannabis products in order to ensure ability to run the most efficient sales organization while offering unmatched customer service

• Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, related profitability, and business goals and objectives

• Manages all production operations defined as crop management, processing, commercial kitchen products, packaging, and distribution of product

• Implement operational growth and expansion

• Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes; provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on operating conditions

• May represent Company with internal and external business and community partners

Non-Essential Functions

Qualifications

Position Requirements

• Business-related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution whose program of study has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education.

• Minimum of five (5) years of corporate management experience required.

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in managing staff required, in a fast-paced intensive industry required.

• Minimum of one (1) year in management role in a legal, state-licensed marijuana/cannabis operation (or similar industry) of 10 employees, two (2) years preferred.

• Experience working in highly-regulated environment required.

• Experience with financial budgets required.

• Proficiency with MS Office Applications required, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

• Knowledge of retail POS systems and/or inventory management system preferred

• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to speak effectively before groups and respond to questions required.

• Ability to work occasional evenings and occasional weekends required.

• Must have integrity and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues

• Exceptional ability to build relationships

• Solid problem solving, business acumen, influence, and negotiation skills

Management • Creates annual operating plans with management team that support the strategic vision for the company and correlate to available budget. Develops strategic plan by studying technological and financial opportunities; presenting findings; recommending objectives • Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid‐course corrections • Collaborates with the Executive management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives; sets operational performance benchmarks. Conducts periodic reviews of operational performance; reports to the management • Provides day‐to‐day management to operations that mirrors the mission and values of the company • Motivates and leads a high performance management team; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to management career development • Fosters a success‐oriented, flexible and accountable environment within the company Finance • In conjunction with the Board, develops annual budgets that support operating plans • In collaboration with Controller, prudently manages operating resources within budget guidelines and regulatory frameworks to maximize productivity • Oversees operations management and ensures company is compliant with all regulatory and safety requirements. Operations • Oversees store and production operations through Operations Managers • Manages all sales channels whether brick and mortar or online, personnel, systems and budgets related to the sales of cannabis products in order to ensure ability to run the most efficient sales organization while offering unmatched customer service • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, related profitability, and business goals and objectives • Manages all production operations defined as crop management, processing, commercial kitchen products, packaging, and distribution of product • Implement operational growth and expansion • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes; provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on operating conditions • May represent Company with internal and external business and community partners Non-Essential Functions Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Position Requirements • Business-related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution whose program of study has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education. • Minimum of five (5) years of corporate management experience required. • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in managing staff required, in a fast-paced intensive industry required. • Minimum of one (1) year in management role in a legal, state-licensed marijuana/cannabis operation (or similar industry) of 10+ employees, two (2) years preferred. • Experience working in highly-regulated environment required. • Experience with financial budgets required. • Proficiency with MS Office Applications required, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint • Knowledge of retail POS systems and/or inventory management system preferred • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to speak effectively before groups and respond to questions required. • Ability to work occasional evenings and occasional weekends required. • Must have integrity and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues • Exceptional ability to build relationships • Solid problem solving, business acumen, influence, and negotiation skills • Superior organizational, project management, time management and multi-tasking skills • Superior communication skills to include listening, verbal, written and presentation skills • Successful track record with being a team player as well as building, leading, and motivating teams • Flexibility and creativity when finding solutions is a must, namely in the context of a start-up environment • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to speak effectively before groups of people and respond to questions, required • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required. • Experience working with Native American communities preferred. • Knowledge in all areas of historical, traditional, cultural, language and spiritual practices of the • Pokagon Band of Potawatomi preferred. • Cannabis industry knowledge preferred. • Must pass drug test and background check. The Facility Operations Manager has responsibility for all staff in the facility and acts as a liaison externally between the Cultivation and Dispensing Facilities and the local community, including law enforcement.</p><ul><li>Maintain a highly focused, diligent, lean operational culture dedicated to Columbia Care’s established mission objectives.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all State and local laws, rules and regulations governing the local medical marijuana program, and other regulations such as OSHA, HIPAA, NFPA and others.</li><li>Oversee staff training and education to ensure that SOPs, Health and Safety, and good agricultural and manufacturing practices are followed.</li><li>Manage security of the facility in partnership with corporate VP, Security. Follow us on LinkedIn.</p><p><b>ROLE SUMMARY</b></p><p>The Dispensary Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a Fluent dispensary in accordance with the Office of Medical Marijuana in the state of Florida and standards set by Fluent. Further, the General Manger is responsible for measuring sales and sales improvement of the team and individual Curators. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining patient services, oversees and is accountable for the operation of a store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, collaborating with human resources and managing operating costs. The Dispensary Manager provides support for all store employees, including schedules, training, policy and procedure updates, industry news, and product information. The Dispensary Manager maintains highest level of presentation, customer service, and compassion to all patients.</p><p>• During the first two weeks of employment, all new dispensary employees will be on a temporary paid training period pending background check and drug test results.*</p><p><b>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p>• Ensure that each patient receives outstanding guest service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, providing, solid product knowledge and all other components of exemplary service.</p><p>• Analyze and measure sales trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives in the team and each individual member of the team.</p><p>• Train, supervise and evaluate all departmental employees to assure compliance with departmental SOP's</p><p>• Engage and inspire store teams to achieve maximum performance by modeling behavior that fosters a sense of energy, ownership, teamwork, and personal commitment.</p><p>• Ensure departmental compliance with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program and HIPPA regulations including but not limited to confidentiality, training, patient record keeping, creation, review and submission of reports, preparation of policies and procedures.</p><p>• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-through monthly one on one meetings with team members and audits.</p><p>• Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reviews accompanied by written plans for improvement, as applicable.</p><p>• Conduct and oversee audits.</p><p>• Ensure proper management of pre-packaged inventory and inventory movement between the vault and dispensing stations.</p><p>• Partners with the Human Resources department and recommends salaries, writes appraisals, and takes disciplinary actions when required</p><p>• Ensures a clean and organized dispensary for our patients.</p><p>• Contributes to a positive and inclusive work environment.</p><p>• Oversee and ensure cash management procedures are being followed including, transacting, opening, closing, depositing, reporting, maintaining and reconciling cash with Bio Track.</p><p>• Engage with managers in all departments to ensure smooth running of the dispensary including, delivery, cultivation, and security.</p><p>• Stays informed and knowledgeable about state and local laws, regulations, and industry news.</p><p>• Continually evaluate and react to performance issues and actively recruit candidates.</p><p>• Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relations.</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE</p><p>• Previous experience with retail sales</p><p>• Excellent customer service skills</p><p>• Leadership ability with at least five years of experience in a retail store setting or at least five years of experience in customer-facing sales in a business solutions environment.</p><p>• Leadership and organizational abilities</p><p>• Proficient computer skills</p><p>• Ability to manage a employees during normal business hours in a fast-paced environment.</p><p>• Strong people and presentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills</p><p>• Flexible working hours based on business needs and 10+ hour shifts.</p><p>• Ability to maintain and demonstrate a positive, problem solving attitude at all times.</p><p>• Community outreach experience</p><p>SKILLS/INTERESTS</p><p>• Ethical Conduct</p><p>• Problem-solving attitude</p><p>• Customer / Client Focus</p><p>• Must be a multitasker, with the ability to work on several requests simultaneously without losing focus</p><p>• Organization and initiative, good communications skills, proactive, problem-solving, time management, discretion and confidentiality are essential attributes</p><p>• Ability to build good relationships. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.</p><p><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</b></p><p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand at a workstation for extended periods; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms and ability to work on iPad, laptop or desktop for extended periods of time reading, reviewing and analyzing information and providing recommendations and summaries to patients. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 25 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.</p><p>POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK</p><p>This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
