JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, you will lead a team of HR professionals who provide timely services to assigned client divisions. You will be responsible for the HR Consulting (recruitment, organizational design, workforce planning, job evaluation, employee relations) and Labour Relations portfolios, including a Technical Analyst. Through strong relationship building and business acumen, you will ensure that HR activities are aligned with AGLC’s business goals and strategic plan. You will provide strategic leadership to the HR Consulting team and champion the business partner philosophy. You will foster an environment of collaboration, a strong focus on service excellence and actively support AGLC’s commitment to our values. You will leverage your collaboration and innovation skills when coaching and supporting leaders at all levels in the organization, leading the creation, implementation and review of HR strategies and policies and develop and recommend organizational design strategies.


Additionally, you will lead AGLC in maintaining positive working relationships with union representatives, providing direction on proactive labor relations strategies and being the Chief Negotiator, with authority to bargain on behalf of AGLC.

Your client-centric approach will be evident in a continuous improvement mindset and practice, in order to ensure new and current programs, policies and practices are designed and regularly reviewed for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. This efficiency and effectiveness will be determined through leveraging key metrics and will be supported by the use of technology to enhance this client service.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

Completion of an undergraduate degree in human resources, business or equivalent, and a minimum of 7 years progressively responsible human resources leadership with experience in strategy and policy development within a large organization, is required.


The successful candidate requires the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • The demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions within Human Resources and the organization.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to engage individuals at levels within organization.
  • In depth experience interpreting labour laws, collective agreements and being the Chief Negotiator in collective bargaining.
  • Strong organizational, project planning and financial management skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly in MS Excel.


The following are considered assets:

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
  • Experience with Success Factors.
