We are looking for the right person to fill the critical role of Corporate Controller. The successful candidate will help develop and implement accounting processes and build analytics for our growing company. In this role, the self-motivated individual will have responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and finance activities, including financial reporting, recordkeeping, analysis, monthly financial closings, operational and management reporting, budgeting, payroll, and the administration of benefits.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee all daily accounting and finance matters such as general ledger, payables, and payroll
  • Hire, train, supervise, lead, and motivate the appropriate accounting staff
  • Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate financial controls, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Oversee and drive the budgeting process, including monthly analysis and reports
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets
  • Provide management with timely reviews of the organization'''s financial status. Prepare and/or review and analyze financial and budget reports that either summarize or forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of revenue, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., opening new operations, asset acquisition, new service launches, etc.)
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
  • Work with external CPA firm to ensure the timely and accurate filing of corporate tax returns
  • Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Together with the other senior managers, maintain the organization’s culture, values, and mission

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • 10+ years proven accounting experience
  • Experience with a multi-entity organization with extensive inventory controls
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing accounting policies and organization-wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Professional accounting certification, including CPA or CMA, preferred
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Extensive experience with a variety of accounting software systems
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Confident and comfortable communicating effectively with all levels of leadership within the organization

The department produces regular reports and audits on the City's financial and economic condition and the operations and performance of City government.</p><p>The Budget and Analysis Division (BAD) manages the technical development of the City’s annual budget, including forecasting tax revenues, costing and budgeting labor and benefit costs, and assisting the Mayor and Board of Supervisors with costing and budgeting of policy initiatives.
