Frost, PLLC is a full-service accounting firm currently providing tax, assurance, small business, advisory, animal welfare, business valuation, and litigation services in 47 states. Frost services a range of clients, from individuals to billion-dollar organizations. We have offices in Little Rock, AR; Fayetteville, AR; Scottsdale, AZ; Yuma, AZ; and Raleigh, NC. Our satellite offices are in Denver, CO; Naples, FL; and LaBelle, FL.

 

Frost has an immediate opening for a Tax Manager or Senior Associate within our Cannabis and Emerging Industries Group. This is a full-time position and will be benefits eligible.

 

About the position:

  • Opportunity to work in fast-growing and dynamic industries, with a current focus on the cannabis (marijuana, both medical and adult-use, hemp and hemp derivatives) and cannabis-technology industries
  • Opportunity to participate in complex investment, corporate structuring, and transactional business activities and address tax decisions and reporting impacts.
  • Opportunity to learn and consider strategic decisions that are impacted by a set of diverse and ever-changing regulations (both on federal and various state levels) and tax court rulings
  • Opportunity to work with cannabis dispensaries, cultivators, processors, and vertical operators consisting of individual and multi-state operators (MSOs)
  • Potential to advance with the rapidly-growing industry practice team
  • Potential for occasional travel if desired, but not necessary
  • Reports directly to Cannabis and Emerging Industries group partner

 

Our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
  • CPA or CPA candidate required
  • 2-5 years in tax senior or manager position required
  • Self-starter and ability to manage multiple projects, staff, and clients
  • Detail-oriented, technical tax experience preferred, with interest in continued learning and skills advancement
  • Ability to utilize knowledge and skills to participate in corporate strategic and tax planning
  • Tax reporting experience with Partnerships, C-Corps., and S-Corps. and joint ventures
  • Experience with CCH Suite of Applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

cultivation schedule and plant maturation.</p><p>• Ensure that the product is compliant with all relevant regulations and meets all standards established by the state.</p><p>• Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and traceability of plants, including plant counts, both physically and in METRC, and correcting plant inventory discrepancies immediately.</p><p>• Develop and update SOPs for cultivation and post-harvest processes, enforcing strict adherence throughout the facility.</p><p>• Assist with calculating production yields and determining areas of improvement for each harvest.</p><p>• Facilitate and oversee inspections using inventory and compliance audits.</p><p>• Conduct investigations when necessary - if inventory does not match production and transfer records.</p><p>• Monitor stock of cultivation supplies and equipment and work with Procurement to order supplies.</p><p>• Prepare reports summarizing harvest yields and conditions.</p><p>• Ensure accuracy of inventory.</p><p>• Oversee tracking compliance in METRC.</p><p>• Stay current with the latest grow solutions and technology.</p><p>Establish relationships with suppliers as needed.</p><p>• Provide job responsibility, HR degree, preferably in Plant Sciences and/or Agriculture related disciplines.</p><p>• 2+ years as a cultivator in a large scale indoor cannabis operation.</p><p>• Experience with automated systems (e.g., Priva, Argus, Growlink).</p><p>• Experienced with mixed light growing.</p><p>• Experience diagnosing, preventing and treating plant health issues.</p><p>• Experience creating production schedules.</p><p>• Ability to manage people, provide day-to-day supervision, and handle employee related issues.</p><p>• Ability to gather, track, and report on agricultural information obtained during harvest tracking.</p><p>• Ability to develop and document SOPs.</p><p>Physical Demands / Environment</p><p>• Available to work during Harvest and Testing activities.</p><p>• Available to work 45+ hours per 7-day week.</p><p>• Available to work weekends when requested.</p><p>• Able to lift 30 lbs regularly.</p><p>Desired Skills</p><p>• OSHA and FDA knowledge is a plus.</p><p>• Experience Provides direct support for all Postharvest Associates, including schedules, training, policy and procedure updates, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedure including managing and tracking the harvest, dry, trim, cure and packaging of product Responsible for highest possible standards of work in postharvest, maintaining facility compliance, and cleanliness in accordance with State regulations and standards set by the company.</p><p>• Overseeing day to day operations in postharvest</p><p>• Set up and manage daily tasks for Postharvest staff</p><p>• Oversee and track weights/waste to document on the buck and trim log</p><p>• Edit cure room and dry room inventory as necessary</p><p>• Tag flower and trim in METRC/Leaf Logix/MJ Freeway</p><p>• Oversee daily trim room break down and clean up are followed and documentation is prepared and submitted as required.</p><p>• Open &amp; Close Shifts- based on Cultivation Department workflow</p><p>• Supervising Postharvest Associates’ daily tasks and responsibility</p><p>• Allocate supplies and buckets to trimmers throughout the workday</p><p>• Statistical tracking, duties, and progress updates</p><p>• Track Gram per Hour statistics</p><p>• Trim quality and oversight of trimmer quality</p><p>• Trim to flower ratio monitoring</p><p>• Batch turnaround progress</p><p>• Batch tracking sheets finalized as soon as batches are completed</p><p>• Plant batch inventories reconciled day before harvest</p><p>• Dry Room Environmental logs and management</p><p>• Bucketing scheduling, supervision, and inventorying</p><p>• Allocation of trim buckets</p><p>• Bagging and tagging buckets</p><p>• Bucket inventories</p><p>• Burping logs &amp; adherence to burping/curing procedures</p><p>• Waste logs &amp; compliant waste disposal</p><p>• Organization, labor supervision, oversight, and quality assurance of harvest</p><p>• Ensure only quality product meeting high standards set by the company</p><p>• Physical Requirements of the Job: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 75 pounds (125 pounds with assistance), may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.
