An expanding cannabis multi-state operator who has large-scale cultivation, manufacturing, and retail operations is looking for an agile and experienced IPM Manager to join it's growing team.

The IPM Manager will be responsible for all pest and disease management, ensuring overall plant health for 300 acres of outdoor farm production

This will include scouting, prevention, treating, planning, scheduling, researching and leading an IPM team to manage pest and disease in more than 25-acres of greenhouse cannabis production.

An ideal candidate for this position should have prior experience in an agriculture setting working as a pest control adviser or similar responsibilities dealing with integrated pest management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all Cannabis Pest and Disease management.

• Manage a team of IPM specialists in scouting, identification, compliance, prevention and treatments.

• Build application schedules and plans for addressing key pest and disease threats that are safe, used to label specifications, and compliant with all Federal and State regulations.

• Build systems for scouting and other IPM tools.

• Build an annual beneficials plan and system for tracking applications and challenges by time, cultivation area and zone.

• Hold trainings for staff and create visual guides for pests’ and diseases.

• Ensure proper storage, disposal, usage, certification and reinforce these practices by helping to develop documentation such as : SOPs, Work Instruction, Forms, Logs, etc.

• Assist the company in budgeting for the department, including monitoring and controlling costs.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations in all activities under your supervision.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Protection, or other plant health-focused disciplines

• 2+ years experience in a similarly-focused position dealing with pest management

• Pest control adviser license and / or qualified applicators license

• Large-scale agriculture experience dealing with berries, avocados, citrus fruits, or other related crops

• At least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.

Desired Skills

• Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not mandatory

• Experience with tractors and self-propelled spraying rigs

They work as subject matter experts within their Value Stream and are responsible for maintaining healthy and productive team. Some of the functional areas critical to plant health In which a Captain works: from compliance and hand trim to package creation and fulfillment scheduling.</p> <p>This is a dynamic team requiring dynamic skills, and as such the daily tasks may vary, resulting in a fast paced and lively work environment. Citizens rely on Captains for direction and Lean Leadership. We believe passionately in winning as a Team and Collaboration with all Stakeholders. Captains hold themselves and their teams to such high standards of excellence. They both lead the team and are a part of the team.</p> <p>Based in Marshall, Michigan and reporting into the Director of Post-Harvest, each candidate will work collaboratively with the other Captains towards mentoring and coaching the cultivation team to both love what they do, and to do it well. The cultivation team plays a critical role in delivering on our mission to serve our fellow citizens of Michigan with the highest quality, safest cannabis products.</p> <p>As with everyone at Common Citizen, the Post-Harvest Captains are also expected to care about and contribute to the Common Citizen fight to end the social stigma surrounding cannabis, helping more people discover the greater quality of life it can provide.</p> <p><b>What You Will Be Doing</b></p> <p><b>Responsibilities include but not limited to: </b></p> <ul> <li>Assuring work tasks within their assigned Value Stream are executed per the Production Schedule and Standard Work with high degree of Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance</li> <li>Facilitate and then Coach Tier Huddles and drive our CC Lean Management System of Visual Controls (i.e., White Boards, Visual Standards, Signage, etc.)</li> <li>Lead Lean Kaizen events, Productivity Improvements, and Safety Committees</li> <li>Accountable for Safety, Quality and Productivity Improvements year over year</li> <li>Act as Subject Matter Expert with respect to Post-Harvest processes and Citizen Development.</li> </ul> <p><b>In terms of Post-Harvest Production</b> duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for overall throughput of Trim and Packaging departments</li> <li>Intaking and organizing untrimmed biomass from harvest team</li> <li>Assuring all cannabis products are free from contamination risk at all stages; from Intake to fulfillment</li> <li>Monitoring for quality control to ensure process and product quality in line with company standards</li> <li>Maintaining a 5S system, Visual Management and assure high standards of sanitation</li> <li>Motivate the Team and coach Citizens on proper Standard Work and execution of tasks per the Production Schedule</li> </ul> <p><b>With respect to Lean Operations</b> Captain related management, including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Manage on time post-harvest labor activities: METRC, hand trimming, pre-rolling packaging and machine operating</li> <li>Assure Citizens complete all proper recording in our systems</li> <li>Motivate the Team and coach Citizens on proper Standard Work and execution of tasks per the Production Schedule</li> </ul> <p><b>Team mentoring and coaching,</b> including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Collaboratively leading or creating and constantly Improving our standard work procedures towards the highest quality plant output</li> <li>Ensuring team compliance with both our Standard Work procedures and government rules &amp; regulations</li> <li>Preparing and managing the team in tracking all activities and work performed in MERTC: including package creation and tracking, waste tracking, harvest Intake, and harvest batch tracking</li> <li>Lead and promote a collaborative, professional and courteous team atmosphere</li> <li>Working collectively and respectfully with the other Captains and Team Leads and act as Champion of Common Citizen’s company culture</li> <li>Manage logistics of the Team including, scheduling, task management and assignment, productivity tracking and workflow optimization, and inter-department communication</li> <li>Helping the cultivation team grow and develop our nominated \"Model Citizens\" through Lean Policy Promotion and required Lean skills with hands-on career discussions and planning</li> </ul> <p>Outlined below is what we see you doing at this point in time. We are a fast-growing company looking for people that are excited to grow along with us.</p> <p><b>The Experience You Bring</b></p> <ul> <li>Four Year College Degree in Horticulture, Biology, Agriculture, or equivalent Cannabis Processing is preferred. Five Years’ management experience in agricultural, pharmaceutical or feed industry is acceptable in lieu of degree.</li> <li>Experience with cannabis track-and-trace software such as LeafLogix, MJ Freeway, or METRC is a plus.</li> <li>Efficient production work leadership with application of Lean Tools and Problem-Solving skills to root-cause correct daily cultivation/production issues.</li> <li>Knowledge of post-harvest diseases, mildew and mold, as well as remediation processes and options.</li> <li>Must be a Team Player who rives accountability, is proactive, with a strong attention to detail.</li> <li>Must be a self-starter who drives the team to achieve production targets within set timelines.</li> <li>Excellent communication and documentation skills using MS Excel, Word and Outlook.</li> <li>Must be able to lift, pull and push 50 pounds and stand for entire 8-hour shift</li> <li>Must be able to work in a highly pollenated environment (kief) and be able to be in hot and humid conditions.</li> </ul> <p><b>Why You’d Love This Role</b></p> <p>You have:</p> <ul> <li>A high level of professionalism and believe in our founding principles: “Cannabis for humanity” and “Change for the better”.
