Position Summary

The Prospiant Controller will provide leadership and coordination of accounting, forecasting and budget management functions (in collaboration with FP&A) and ensure that accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles and/or international financial reporting standards for the Processing business of Gibraltar Industries' Prospiant platform - focus on the Commercial, Produce, Cannabis and Processing Market Segments. As the financial leader for an engineered products manufacturing and installation business, strong focus on cost understanding and control will is a critical responsibility. Experience with plant accounting, shared services organizational model and construction management is a plus.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)

  • Develop and coordinate global financial consolidation & operational metrics for the Business entities in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and/or international financial reporting standards.
  • Support short and long range financial forecasting for budgeting and planning in coordination with FP&A
  • Provide analysis on the Business' financial results to optimize profitability and divisional performance. Proactively tackle P&L issues that arise across the business and champion resolution collaboratively with the team
  • Ensure that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including: data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, and adherence to corporate policies (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.) Main partner for both internal and external audit.
  • Core accounting and financial processes/functions include: Revenue Recognition, COGS, Currency Translation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accruals, GL, Fixed Assets, and Consolidation
  • Oversee cost accounting activities for manufacturing including standards, variance analysis, inventory analysis and the annual physical inventory
  • Ensure the closing process is completed timely and accurately, variance analysis, along with creation of appropriate consolidated income statements, balance sheets and robust supporting reconciliations
  • Drive harmonization of accounting practices across the organization (e.g. account reconciliations, internal control, business analysis, etc.)
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture, developing and improving efficient and scalable processes and using best practices that tie into the overall company operational structure
  • Leads / supports actions to achieve the Business' profitability and business plans
  • Work as required with other areas to provide financial insight, guidance and financial education on different matters to support decision making and planning (e.g. make-buy analyses, cost reduction initiatives, etc.)
  • Coordinate business modeling and analysis with the FP&A function to more deeply understand and communicate business performance. Create and deliver tools to provide Finance Acumen to key business leaders
  • Provide leadership & coaching to create and sustain a high performance culture, plus develop staff to support succession planning

Secondary Accountabilities

  • Consistent communication and partnership with Gibraltar Corporate and functional leaders in the Growing and Processing segment.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.

CPA/CMA preferred.

7+ years' experience in financial management

7+ years' experience in multi company, multi facility, and multi state, multi county (Canada) environments

Experience in revenue recognition, cost accounting, and financial planning & analysis.

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
