Intake Sample Manager

We are a full-service cannabis testing and research lab offering state-mandated testing services to California’s cannabis distributors, cultivators, and manufacturers to ensure safety and accurate labeling of products for medical and recreational use.

The Lab Technician role is a key position responsible for sample accessioning, intake, and sample preparation to support cannabis testing. Attention to detail, reliability, and good fundamental understanding of chemistry laboratory operation are a must for this important role. This position has potential for advancement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate intake and verification of cannabis and cannabis product samples upon delivery to the laboratory
  • Enter orders into the LIMS with high degree of accuracy
  • Update sample tracking spreadsheet with sample information
  • Ensure that data is entered in a timely manner
  • Manage supply inventory and make purchasing requests in a timely manner
  • Find more efficient ways to perform accessioning
  • Make requests to adjust staffing as needed to handle heavy sample loads
  • Photograph samples prior to homogenization and upload to the customer portal
  • Homogenize samples prior to further sample preparation by laboratory chemists
  • Weigh samples for analysis
  • Record physical measurements such as water activity, moisture content, and density
  • Organize retention samples and dispose of samples past the holding time specified in laboratory SOPs
  • Follow detailed procedures to ensure cleanliness and avoid cross-contamination of samples
  • Work efficiently and effectively under time constraints
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific field or Associates degree and 2 years of hands-on lab experience
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized
  • Must have high energy and be able to work at a fast pace
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for several hours at a time.
  • Must be able to perform pipetting and operate centrifuges, vortexes, analytical balances, and other common laboratory equipment.
  • Proficient in use of email, Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • This position may require work outside of normal business hours of 9am – 5:30pm. Weekends or a later or earlier shift may be required.

Preferred

  • Experience in a cannabis testing laboratory or cannabis industry
  • Experience with sample accessioning
  • Knowledge of the Bureau of Cannabis Control regulations
  • Understanding of aseptic technique
  • Experience with data entry and/or use of a LIMS

It is based in Toronto, Ontario.</p><p>About the Role</p><p>As Store Manager, you are responsible for driving sales and being responsible for overall retail operations and staff management such as creating an engaging, educational, and inviting environment to customers and internal teams.</p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><p>• Be responsible for all retail store operations that includes opening and closing the store</p><p>• Be accountable for inventory management such as preventing retail loss</p><p>• Prepare product and accessory orders, receive purchase orders, and manage the transfer of any inventory between locations</p><p>• Manage the destruction of any cannabis products due to quality issues or as directed by the OCS</p><p>• Prepare and submit monthly AGCO compliance reports for all locations</p><p>• Adhere to and ensure all health &amp; safety, policies, and procedures are followed</p><p>• Participate in recruitment, hiring, and management of retail staff</p><p>• Schedule all retail staff and manage labor cost</p><p>• Oversee payroll hours by verifying clock-ins and -outs to make sure all hours are accurate for payroll submission</p><p>• Train, coach, and develop retail staff team as per standard operating procedures, regulatory requirements, policies, customer service and product knowledge</p><p>• Assist and educate customers in making product selections with a positive and warm demeanor</p><p>• Ensure all staff are meeting expectations related to company values, customer service, product knowledge, and demonstrations while meeting regulatory requirements</p><p>• Be responsible for the cleanliness of the store premises from the front to the back</p><p>• Support sales, staffing, operational budgets, and plans to ensure profitability</p><p>• Actively look for ways to improve performance and guest service standards</p><p>• Assist in marketing initiatives, in-store visuals, and community outreach programs</p><p>• Manage multiple priorities in an energetic, fast-paced environment</p><p>• Prepare to be flexible in taking on new challenges and responsibilities</p><p><b>Requirements</b></p><p>• Must be 19 years of age or older</p><p>• Minimum of High School Diploma, College Diploma is preferred</p><p>• Minimum of 2 years in a retail, restaurant or hospitality supervisory role</p><p>• Minimum of 3 years in customer service and retail</p><p>• Valid CannSell Certification</p><p>• Valid Retail Manager License</p><p>• Worked with Cova POS, Dutchie, and other cannabis software</p><p>• Knowledge of Point of Sales systems and Timekeeping systems</p><p>• Ability to pass a background check</p><p>• Have a warm, open, and inviting demeanor</p><p>• Have passion for leadership and development of others through positive coaching, feedback, and team-building skills</p><p>• High level of trust, honesty, integrity, motivation, and desire to be part of the process</p><p>• Strong organization and problem-solving skills</p><p>• Excellent written and oral communication skills</p><p>• Passion for customer service excellence</p><p>• Required to work flexible hours inclusive of evenings and weekends</p><p>• A strong business acumen with an understanding of how to deliver measurable results</p><p>• Experience of having worked in a regulated environment</p><p>• Be curious and have a passion for the cannabis industry</p><p>• Be knowledgeable with regards to cannabis products and the cannabis retail landscape</p><p>If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply with an updated resume in MS Word Format.</p><p>Due to the volume of resumes we receive, only those applicants whose skill set match our requirements will be contacted.</p><p>All applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada for an unlimited period of time.</p><p>CanMar Recruitment is dedicated to providing recruitment and business solutions for cannabis industry.
